So many of the central identity markers of these groups, like categorical opposition to abortion, have no real scriptural basis, requiring ludicrous hermeneutical gymnastics to rationalize the later doctrine, while clear & explicit commands about treatment of aliens seem easily sloughed off.

Could not have written the Hegseth piece without @tarapalmeri.bsky.social’s incredible, deft Laura Loomer interview, which I highly recommend listening to in full: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrdd...

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

oh my god

This is *such* a good read. I was unable to pick a pull-quote - every graf is better than the last. My eyebrows got a workout. Also, I laughed out loud several times. Also, it's terrifying that these people are in charge now.

This story is incredible and utterly batshit. I don't even want to pull out one detail because it really, really should be read in full, but Hegseth replacing what would typically be prints of tanks and troops with seven pictures of his wife in a pink dress killed me.

This is probably the best feature I've read all year—an incredible feat of reporting, impeccably structured, and absolutely ecstatic and hilarious on a line level.

This would just be pure comedy if it weren't about the people ostensibly in control of our military. @kerryhowley.bsky.social reports inside the DoD workplace drama. nymag.com/intelligence...

A truly depressing account of the enormous time, effort, & resources that go into building *anything* in blue cities. Can not be exaggerated how much this phenomenon is crippling blue politics in the US. www.inquirer.com/real-estate/...
