Daytime: Community Development. Evening: unpaid Community Development. Will rarely talk about these things here - most likely to talk about the funny things my kid has said - or the cars that have annoyed me on our walk to nursery.

And there it is. No, they were never going to stop at Trans people. I loathe everyone who rattled the sabre agsinst thectrans community eith every bone in my bidy. What now? No gays in any toilets? www.cbsnews.com/detroit/news...

There are often a few bee orchids just outside our allotment site, this year there'll be loads, I've found some on an abandoned plot and on some of the paths. I'm trying to save them from being walked on or mown down, who knows, it might even turn out I'm not the only one who cares. #WildflowerHour

In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. dansinker.com/posts/202…

Hello mobility campaigners - have you ever tried to create online content that tells the story of why we need traffic measures, what the measures available are, stats, real-world quotes? If yes, would love to get in touch.

Reading about the new procurement act and saw ‘sign up for updates’ - weirdly, gov.uk are using a google form, and requiring all sorts of information which shouldn’t be necessary for newsletter updates - so I didn’t sign up 🤷‍♀️ www.gov.uk/government/p...

‘Space centre has a middle name - its Space Church Centre’ - 4yo

I bought some bargain £5 trousers from Big Sains in the sale - felt very much like a Cool Arty Mom this morning, but later realised they’re REALLY SLIPPY. I couldn’t cross my legs all day and kept sliding down my office chair! Which is probably why they were £5.

My water bill (Severn Trent) is going up £11.50 a month. I wouldn’t mind paying that if I could swim in the Severn without getting poorly, but unfortunately they dump raw sewage at every ideal swim spot 👎 💩

I like you, and I want to help you promote your thing, but if you don't put alt text on the promo image, I can't repost it with a clear conscience. Come on. It only takes two ticks.

A very well written, and balanced, response to the proposed closure of Moor Green Lane to through-traffic.

We are today publishing our response to the proposed closure of Moor Green Lane to through-traffic, which has been put forward to improve road safety in the 'West Moseley' area. We are unable to endorse these proposals at this time. 🔗 betterstreetsforbirmingham.org/our-response...

The next Stirchley Community Market is Saturday 15 March 10am-3pm at Stirchley Baths. It will be my last as chair 🪑 on to new projects! (If you know, you know).

Not one of my many, many aunts and uncles know how to put their phone on silent or talk without using speakerphone. It’s just ding ding whistle honk squawk squeak all day and all night.

Knocked over a plant pot into the (thankfully just been cleaned) cat litter tray, THEN spilled the combined dirt and cat litter on the floor, because I misjudged how open the bin bag was. What joy.

I love having Derek and Pauline’s just up the road from me. I go out of my way to shop there and support them. Just one of the many highlights of discovering our new area since we moved to Kings Norton a year ago www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...

B wants to scrape the wallpaper off (of course) the colour underneath is BOLD.

I keep forgetting to call back the Adult ADHD service. The irony is not lost on me. But also - why doesn’t the service operate through the NHS app and just email or text me reminders - I might stand a chance of remembering.

There were lots of snowdrops and even some sunshine at Anglesey Abbey today, look, galanthophiles, they even have their own sort! @midsandeastnt.bsky.social 🌱

I had NINE meetings today. All really good, but around seven more than my neurodivergent brain can cope with. Glad to have annual leave tomorrow 😅

An absolute *dream client* emailed to ask if I’m still freelancing as a designer because my website is down. Alas I am not. Nice to know my name / work is still circulating after not freelancing since Oct 2023.

In much cheerier morning news - it is ’wear pink and red for I love you day’ and this wasn’t a difficult task for us 😅

Just a casual 8 car household near me. 6 inside the gate isn’t enough - must park two fully on the pavement too.

I run a coworking space outside of work. Once a week I send a newsletter with a short list of links to things I’ve seen that have piqued my interest. It’s quite Brum/usually Stirchley specific - you might like it: open.substack.com/pub/theoldpo...

"Adult drivers often crash into children, and drivers from higher-income tracts are more likely to crash into pedestrians from lower-income tracts than the reverse." Automobility reflects systems of domination at all the intersections.

Another parent drove across the pedestrian crossing as my 4yo and I walked across it this morning. Parked in the bus lane then got into the same queue to get into nursery as us. I didn’t say anything - their sheepish look was enough 🤡

I've been co-writing this beer blog since 2007. We've been doing a version of this weekly round-up since 2014. If you're interested in beer and pubs, you might like it.

Allies, friends, please please sign this to complaint ti GB News to OFCOM, a deeply offensive homophobic slur. This stuff is happening in broad daylight again on national television. Don't let it happen, send a message.

My reward for getting out to my allotment on my lunch break

Feeling quite frantic in work and life - and despair at the state of things locally and globally. Need to slooooooooooow down.

Today I asked full council a question about making sure that councillors are spending their ward funds by the deadline (and filling in the @for-birmingham.bsky.social survey on how they found using the funds). We know that several key councillors haven’t spent it and there is now a tight deadline.
