I wear a lot of different hats. Some of them even fit me. Still working out what I want to be when I grow up. You may know me from software, startups, books, plays, or music. I do too much.

I think every program should have a crash message like this

Our first London shows are NEXT MONTH - who's coming? 😍👸🏼

I'm starting to think that "Banterbury" isn't a real place.

Me, first getting the internet: "oh wow finally the whole world is connected!" Me, in 2025: "huh, maybe it was a mistake for the whole world to be connected."

We entice people to run 20+ miles to make the muscle tender and get them all juicy, then wrap them in foil afterwards, and you are telling me this isn't some kind of weird food thing?

The second day of the weekend has only been known as 'Sunday' since 1997 when it was first sponsored by Sun Microsystems. It is only now, 15 years after Oracle aquired Sun Microsystems, that the company is considering renaming it.

The new moisturiser I'm using has a big sticker on the front of it saying it's "dermatologist tested" and I fail to see how rubbing untested chemicals on scientists against their will is any better than doing it to rabbits and mice.

Went to leave for my mum’s funeral and found my car had been broken into. Stay classy, London.

At what point do we just start calling him “Queer Harmer?”

Time to stock up on my emotional support pickles.

Note to self: never invite JD Vance over for an Easter dinner.

I would watch an episode (nay, entire series) of Bakeoff with actors who have played The Doctor and various companions.

Unexpected full page in today's Observer on yesterday's protests and it doesn't interview a single GC for 'balance'

Hearing reports of bluesky complying with censorship requests from authoritarian governments, and hoping these are somewhat exaggerated. Will research thoroughly though, don't want to base anything on hearsay.

The response to yesterday’s ruling by terfs, the popping of champagne corks, the odious glee, shows that they were never afraid of trans people. No, they delight in our fear and our misery. Refuse to be miserable. Find community. Love loudly and proudly. Laugh together. Share joy.

It would also be nice if cis people with platforms actually spoke out publicly for a change and didn’t just message their trans friends privately to say that it sucks but keep quiet otherwise to avoid losing their newspaper columns

Something I find quite annoying about the “it was my childhood!” argument being made by people who continue to engage with Rowling’s work is that it ignores the many, many trans people who were fans of Harry Potter as children until the author decided to advocate for our eradication. I was one.

I have nothing but sadness to add to the discourse on today's supreme court ruling.

She kissed the ground and she liked it.

hey, do you know of any (preferably queer/marginalised) folk who do freelance macOS/iOS SwiftUI engineering? I may have bitten off more than I can chew on a project and would gladly pay for some assistance implementing some nice UI

The world must be ending. I just read a wiki-how article and actually found it useful.

I’ve got a real craving for a bowl of Tutti Frutti ice cream from Gino Ginelli. Anyone know a shop where it’s still 1990?

I just got a LinkedIn InMail paid message from someone about my mum's recent passing. Technology has gone too far.

We've all been drinking so much kool-aid since the 80s and we've forgotten that our digestive systems can work just fine - if not better - without it.

The first webcomic?! (Not really a webcomic I guess, this was on a BBS. I wonder what the history of BBS-original pre-web comics was like.)

I am pleased to report that this morning there is actually Sunshine on Leith. #InScotland

Real Genius (1985) is an underrated Val Kilmer film in which he delivers a funny, heartfelt performance as young-genius-turned-activist. It's always on my nerd-film watchlist. If you've not seen it, well worth a watch.

I'm sad that #NaNoWriMo is shutting down. I was very vocal about their wholesale embrace of AI (to the extent that I boycotted last year) and think they'd have had a lot more support had they not done that - but I'm still sad about it. I've been taking part since the late 90s. (1/2)

Subverting expectations by being a fool year round, but being a creature of pure clarity for half a day on April 1st.

Scottish friends! I'll be on the west coast of your fair country for a bit of this and most of next week. If you'd like to grab coffee, or just hang out, drop me a message! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🎉

Me, walking into any room.

Watching a VHS tape of one of the first professional stage shows I was in and both cringing at my teenage performance and jealous of some of the costumes I got to wear. I could rock those threads as modern casual wear.
