Just finished reading "Every Valley: The Story of Handel’s Messiah" by Charles King. Great book, highly recommended! www.goodreads.com/book/show/21...

I'm currently focusing on Attic Greek, but I'm looking forward to eventually following some of this advice and learning Homeric...

Great translation. I'm currently reading @emilyrcwilson.bsky.social 's translation of The Iliad to my wife, and this will be next!

Is there a sizable community of people in Korea learning Ancient Greek? I've noticed some here on Bluesky, and this after reading Han Kang's Greek Lessons, about a Korean learning Ancient Greek. BTW, Greek Lessons is a great novel... Han Kang is a genius.

Looks like some great Ancient Greek books to look into from Juan Coderch! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bJn...

Somehow I have been learning Ancient Greek for two years but never heard of this podcast series! pca.st/podcast/6ac9...

This is exactly what I find so fascinating about reading ancient works—discovering how similar we are to humans across time. Great collection of translated ancient tablets:

For the past week or so, I've been using the Minimal Phone app to turn my Android phone into a boring phone. Highly recommend!

After reading this first chapter of Αλέξανδρος, I'm sad I don't have more people to practice my conversational Ancient Greek with 😢

Applying some of my sweet sweet spreadsheet skills to my #AncientGreek learning...

I made it to Chapter 15 of Λόγος, and it seems to have made a big jump in complexity. #AncientGreek

You can tell that the people behind Biblingo really take language learning seriously and know the science of language acquisition. They introduce the pieces of Ancient Greek gradually and then give you practice with comprehensible input along the way. #AncientGreek

The perfect combination of ancient and cutting edge technology—sometimes the best way to get the definition of an Ancient Greek word in a text I'm reading is to ask ChatGPT. (The text is Athenaze, Italian Ed.) #AncientGreek

Can't wait to visit this combo subway/museum in Thessaloniki:

I've been using the Biblingo app (biblingo.org) as part of my Ancient Greek language learning for a while now. While my interest in Ancient Greek is broader than just Biblical Greek, it's really felt like a good complement to the Ranieri-Roberts approach. Highly recommend! #AncientGreek

"καὶ σαθραῖς ταῖς κώπαις ἐρεττω" "And with these rotten oars I row" —Thrasymachus #ReadAncientGreek

I've gotten to Thrasymachus in the Ranieri-Roberts Approach, and this is great content. It's starting to get really fun to read Ancient Greek as the content gets more interesting. #AncientBluesky #LearnAncientGreek

If you are learning the Ancient Greek language, you might find this feed I created helpful. Any time people mention Ancient Greek books or other learning material, it should show up here: bsky.app/profile/did:... #LearnAncientGreek

I was so impressed by The Creative Act by Rick Rubin, it has made it on my favorite books of all time list, as well as this list of my fave non-fiction books of 2023…

It might only be due to the Ancient Greek text on the whiteboard behind Paul Giamatti's character, but this movie looks great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgIyk1tvTd8&ab_channel=ONEMedia

Very interesting! Researchers have partially deciphered a previously undeciphered script. They conclude it's descended from Imperial Aramaic script, and the language is likely a middle Iranian language: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/1467-968X.12269

"A recent study describes a new AI that produces high-quality translations of ancient texts." https://bigthink.com/the-future/ai-translates-cuneiform/

I've been using ChatGPT with Code Interpreter today. It really brings ChatGPT to a new level. My favorite thing to do: upload a spreadsheet of data in CSV format and as ChatGPT to analyze it. Sixty seconds later, I have charts and a qualitative analysis of the data.

This is an incredible book. Made me see comics anew. I love its approach of being both a comic itself, all while analyzing comics' art, meaning, form, and much much more. I'll be reading everything else by Scott McCloud. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/102920.Understanding_Comics

With the news of Code Interpreter coming to all ChatGPT Plus users soon, there's about to be another wave of people talking about our impending doom from AI. A good time to revisit the Pyramid of Creativity: https://kathekonta.substack.com/p/the-pyramid-of-creativity
