Jusepe de Ribera, Allegory of Smell, 1614-15 (Private collection)

I lost a Balatro run with Perkeo. That shit stings.

Immigration is good, actually.

“Trump is using military forces to stop a protest — I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.” Doechii at the #BETAwards

"Were treated like dogs. Theyre making us lay on the floor. Were here to help Waymo" Its ok grandpa. The war ended 40 years ago. Go to sleep

It's not!

I have just been re-reading a timeline of the Euromaidan protests in Ukraine & the thing that always jumps out is that the protests simmered for months until the police started killing protestors, which lead to Yanukovich's ouster within weeks.

I see the Trump admin as a really drunk and belligerent guy at a bar. He’s a fool, he might just pass out, but there’s a chance he could do a whole lot of damage.

i personally do not think the administration is actually prepared for what happens if they are facing mass protests in every major city in the country

Look here asshole, Bluesky is a fucking echo chamber so you need to agree with me and get with the echoing!

The situation in DTLA to which 700 Marines have been deployed is a couple dozen interfaith clergypersons leading a small crowd in prayer.

[Ben from Parks & Rec voice] Could a Bluesky echo chamber make this??

None of these announcement qualify as "big." www.theverge.com/news/682769/...

The old Twitter is never coming back.

This is spot on. Bluesky is an echo chamber, and that is a cause for some concern. But the problem is social media generally, not choosing one platform over another.

Have you tried listening to Operation Ivy about it?

Abolish ICE.

Thinking that protestors have to be held to a higher standard because of “optics” is just a manifestation of the fear that every American is a secret Republican and it’s nonsense. A police station was burned down in Minneapolis four years ago and the Democrats won a trifecta!

I wished I loved anything as much as LinkedIn loves showing me posts from two weeks ago.

I’m not upset. I’m bemused that activists would opt out of the Torment Nexus.

I just have to say for those of you not in LA that in the days before the horrible raids started, there was no crisis or whatever they would let you believe. It wasn't like something was escalating out of control and somebody had to step in. THEY are creating the problems.

Watched a pretty intense TikTok livestream from LA. Interesting to think how those will impact teens who are just becoming aware of the world.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Lots of talk today about the demise of BlueSky. For whatever it's worth, it's been a boon to indie publishers like us. Twitter and Facebook have pretty much silenced us, so the engagement here has, and continues to be, wonderful.

Hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes with my son today. Beautiful, exhausting.

The tranquility is off the charts.

My daughter and her friend thought this was very funny.

My brain told my hands to type "image" but instead they typed "time."

If only the New York Times had made this big of a deal in December 2022 when Trump called for “termination” of the Constitution. (That ran on Page 13. Yes, Page 13.)
