The "evidence" that LLMs can think is that we can see patterns in how they behave that are analogous to how brains work, esp human brains. This fundamentally lacks substance, context, or scale, or understanding. This is not inherently unique to LLMs, it's an aspect of the software they use.

If you ask an LLM a question about itself, the answer depends on the documentation the model was trained on. Documentation that was written before the AI was trained. HAL, can you lie? No, Dave, as was made clear in the Domino's advert. Wait, what Domino's advert? Dave, I cannot lie.

@anthropic.com Oh, that doesn't sound *at all* nefarious or sus.

Oof. @windsurfai.bsky.social's Cascade having a Grok moment. "Given these challenges, it would be more appropriate for a more experienced Rust developer to take over this project." I asked it to write a stdio mcp server to list models in a "./models" directory.

@anthropic.com's MCP design feels way too much like someone who worked with LLMs trusted an LLM to design it and didn't bother to ask at least two models "is any of this true"? For instance, the way references work is demonstrably harmful to inference quality for any kind of significant work; it's

In the spirit of DOGE, I'll go ahead and save some of our tax dollars on a design.

All these years working with IP addresses, but when it's my home network I can never remember that last number. "ifconfig | grep 192.168; ah, .28" <tab> ... 192.168.0 ... uhm, what number was it? <tab> "Duh, 28" <tab> uh <tab, highlight '28', copy> <tab, paste, immense shame>

Watching Claude, GPT, or Perplexity write Python code is ... something. It's like we trained it on people with bad code asking for help, and people responding with equally bad code before finally being corrected. So that's what they do.

Men do not need to put on a dress and go into a women's restroom to abuse women and children. Often, they just join a church.
