Emphasizing again that anyone who responds to "that's illegal" with some variant of "lol all law is meaningless you're a sucker for thinking that matters" is actively doing PR for Trump and helping him. Nihilism about the law is the best way to make sure that the rule of law dies a quicker death.

One of the biggest successes of the Israeli pro-democracy protest movement in 2023 was reclaiming the Israeli flag. The Israeli right lost it over this and alienated itself from the flag in response. Publicly owning the flag, whether you like it or not, is actually valuable.

Can you make cities better while the nation they’re in is breaking? Or more accurately, being broken? It’s hard as hell (when is it ever easy), but yes you can. As a matter of fact, we have to. Cities and communities, and the leaders in them, are probably still our best hope for a better future.
