Does anyone have suggestions for a gentle de-radicalization along these lines? I wish I had more books, podcasts and YouTubers to send people drifting into the Rogan-verse

I can’t get over the fact that two separate people did Nazi salutes at CPAC and it’s so normalized at this point that it’s barely even notable on TV news. In any halfway normal era that shit would warrant wall-to-wall coverage.

REVEALED: we identified the operator of an overtly racist X account, "GlomarResponder," as ICE Assistant Chief Counsel James Rodden, based on an overwhelming number of biographical details matched through publicly available documents, other social media activity, and courtroom observation.

It's basically this: Over the last 15 years, deeply alienated and lonely internet trolls, amplified by influencer grifters and algorithms trained to increase time on metrics by stewing division, convinced huge swathes of American men that every facet of modern life is feminine and, thus, bad.

#writers & friends: what magazines are good homes for submitting English translations of weird micro-fictions / #flashfiction ? They’re part of my current project translating the stories of Libertad Pantoja, a brilliant young Mexican writer & scientist! All help much appreciated.

Go ahead and preorder this book by Garrett Felber. Martin Sostre was one of the greatest radicals this country has ever known and it's about time his story gets the recognition it deserves. This is monumental.

After three days of calls and emails concerning unelected and unvetted Musk’s unfettered access to US citizens personal data, this is the non-response I received from Senator Fetterman. @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social @hcrichardson.bsky.social #SenateDemocrats

Well. I did it. I submitted my book on the history of how the US government has removed Indigenous children from their families. From colonization to removal to boarding schools to today. For middle schoolers. I think it's the first book of its kind. I can't believe I got to do it.

The EO on the intention to "monitor" and "report" noncitizen students and staff for "security" reasons. This is not a new policy - noncitizen students have always been subject to intense monitoring and vulnerable to deportation, esp post 9/11. How the admin uses these tools is the threat.

I was supposed to discuss our book *The End of College Football* tonight in Washington, DC. I won't be there because I was denied entry to the United States. They refused to say why; my best guess is some combo of the inauguration, politics, Palestine, and maybe, a new normal.

I don't understand why the American Historical Association's Council considers the "Resolution to Oppose Scholasticide in Gaza" (passed at the AHA annual meeting on Jan. 6) as "outside the scope of the Association's mission."

Jim Crow "put the authority of the state ... into the voice of the hoodlum of the public parks and playgrounds. They gave free rein and the majesty of the law to mass aggressions that might otherwise have been curbed, blunted, or deflected." ~ C. Vann Woodward

The year is 2035. I meet President AOC in the Oval Office. "You've done well," she says. "By telling men to dress gay, you've lowered the population rate by 90%, thereby reducing carbon emissions." She slides me a manilla envelope. I can now afford a home in a walkable neighborhood

The fact that Republicans are attempting to straight up steal a Supreme Court seat in North Carolina by invalidating over 60,000 legally-cast votes should be getting a lot more attention than it is.

It’s cold and cloudy this Sunday afternoon. From the window I can see a passenger jet flying north against the gray sky. I cannot hear it. The only thing I hear is the hum of the refrigerator.

Super excited to share this work with everyone! It was born out of experiences/lessons my colleague and friend Dr. Oliver Tapaha have gained working through the Navajo Nation’s Human Research Review Board’s protocol for conducting research. #researchethics #tribalIRB #indigenousresearchmethods

Asked if Luigi Mangione is a terrorist, Biden's Homeland Secretary Mayorkas replies: " The rhetoric on social media following is extraordinarily alarming...The domestic violent extremism that exists...is one of the great threat streams that we must counter."

It’s definitely happening in academia

when you have anti-DEI proponents openly going after black military officers for recruiting from HBCUs and suing schools for their black and Hispanic enrollment *even after the schools ended any racial preferences* then the only honest label for these people is "segregationist"

What do you do with an open social network? One good option is what @rudyfraser.com is doing: Building "the app within the app" if not "the app beyond the app." The Blacksky feed, labeler, & community - and also a separate implementation of atproto - that bluesky doesn't own
