I love road trips. If I had the time, I would drive everywhere. Flying is great when you need to get somewhere, but it replaces the joy of discovery in the journey with frustration and expense. #photography #roadtrip

Tell me a more relaxing place to spend a lazy spring afternoon. #photography

I'm just a cat, sitting in a bathroom sink, asking you to love me. #photography #cat #catsofbluesky

Mom's ages-old recollection of her grandmother's recipe for Italian chocolate cookies. Yes, that's 25 pounds of flour; she would make them 300 at a time. #photography #recipes

Baked holiday cookies today, and cleaned the kitchen. Out of energy, so here's a jellyfish I shot. #photography #marinelife #animalphotography

Today's my birthday. I live my life simply. I don't have money, assets, or real estate to speak of. There won't be an 'estate' when I kick the bucket. What I do have is a love of well made food and unique experiences. This place was such a great combination of both, and was well worth a paycheck

I made this

Visited Charlotte, NC with some friends a few years ago. Their downtown is surprisingly walkable and is an interesting mix of colonial and modern. This 19th-century cemetery is surrounded by high rises, a memorial to those whose labor built the foundation for the city. #urbanphotography #photography

Winter is such a dreary time for most folks. The sun sets early, it's cold, there's snow, driving is treacherous. But it's also peaceful. The cold keeps people inside, and the snow dampens the ambiance of city noise. You can't always travel for peace; sometimes you have to wait for fresh snow.

I wonder if "It's a Wonderful Life" could be made today. The idea that the lives of those around you is made better by your existence is not a given, it's a mandate. #photography

I have a whole catalog of amateur photography that I'd like to share and be seen. I welcome reposts, and everything I post is my own content. I don't know how to grow an audience. #photography #sunset

If your city has a botanical gardens, you really should visit. The effort a relatively small group of enthusiasts put into their presentations is impressive. #buffalo #photography #botanicalgardens

Humans are fantastic creatures. We almost can't help ourselves when presented with the opportunity to contribute to communal art. There was a stage when this would have simply been abuse of public property, and probably held that appearance until a tipping point into a statement piece.

Throwing this out there so I can falsely believe that I was the first to make this connection. #BuffaloBills #GoBills

I showed this rock to Reddit and they didn't really care. Do you like my rock?

Hey. Hey you. I see you working. Saving. Doing the hard things so you can live longer. You're doing great. Now, order the sweet thing. You need reminders now and then that life is worth living *now* so you can appreciate it more later. You still have a whole lot of memories to make.

This is your reminder that: - you can't choose your family, but you can choose how much access to you they deserve and will get. - Thanksgiving began as a celebration of colonialism, but you can and should repurpose it to remind yourself what you're living and fighting for. - I'm thankful for you.

Hello there! If it isn't some of my favorite people!

We need more co-ops in or near struggling neighborhoods. When 98% of all the money spent gets funneled up and into the pockets of far away millionaires, there's nothing left to reinvest and reinvigorate these neighborhoods. There's no pride and no sense of communal purpose.

I don't often visit "tourist" cities, and even when I do, I sort of love walking the party districts while last night's patrons are still in bed. The business of being a tourist-centric business is far more fascinating to me than whatever draws the average folk.

My favorite kinds of trails are those that build with the environment, not around it. This bridge is all but invisible until the leaves guide your eyes to it.

Six years ago, this cat showed up on my porch, starving and terrified. She has never fully trusted anyone except me. I don't think I'm worthy of it, but I try hard every day to make sure that trust is never misplaced.
