I had an urge to draw the crocuses. I love when they appear as little reminders that spring is nearly here. Does anyone else feel like the last two months have flown by? #crocuses #spring #illustrationartists

I’m starting work on a new kids activity booklet and getting deep into research…

I’ve just been featured on the @creativehowl Directory of Illustrators and I’m thrilled to have been chosen. Thank you so much for including me among so many talented artists. creativehowl.com/work/kimberl...

The AOI have a creative practice book cover course on at the moment. A session with AD Ellie Game suggested creating a cover with an illustration you already have. I turned my peach illustration into a cover that I think would suit a modern romance novel or sex therapy book. What do you think?

I’ve been doom scrolling a lot lately and have decided to turn it into a sketch prompt. I’ve written a longer post about it on Substack if you were interested and wanted to know more.

I recently illustrated an 8 page kids activity booklet for EDF Renewables about Raptors.

I had a little bit of downtime last week so I mocked up this book cover just for the fun of it. I’ve used dark purple here to convey an all encompassing velvety night and am imaging the moon and it’s reflection being an iridescent foil or a spot uv varnish to give the path of light an ethereal feel.

I got some stickers and postcards made for OFFF Barcelona and still have loads left, because…introversion. Do people still like getting this sort of thing in the post? #stickers #postcards #illustration #kidlit #kidlitpostcard

Where are people sharing their creative work these days? On Behance? Dribble? Only here on Bluesky? I’d love to know. Where are the best places to follow people? #creative #socialmedia #portfolio

OFFF Barcelona last week was absolutely brilliant. This is a bit of a visual journal of my experiences. If you’d like to read more about my highlights you can check that out on my Instagram as there’s a much larger word count there.

I posted this on Instagram but forgot to post it here. Happy lunar new year! #yearofthedragon

The pattern I made last summer from my museum sketches of ancient artefacts is now on a LOQI bag. It’s part of their new Designboom collection which is being shown off at the Maison & Objet in Paris this week alongside their other amazing new stuff. How exciting it that? #illustratedpattern

Happy New year Bluesky! I’m an illustrator that’s interested in collaborating on children’s activity books & educational non-fiction. I’m also currently unagented and seeking representation. www.kimberlycarpenter.com #kidlitartpostcard #kidlitart #kidlit

It’s my favourite time of the year…when all the cute dogs in the park are wearing their sweaters and flashing disco lights. #illustration #creativepersonalprojects

I just got this in the post from @scholastic_uk Thank you so much! I’m super excited to eat the biscuiteers cats biscuits while reading ‘A History of the World According to Cats’.

Hi there! I’m Kimberly! I’m an illustrator that loves creating animal characters. I’m also currently unagented and seeking representation. www.kimberlycarpenter.com #kidlitartpostcard #kidlitart #kidlit

I recently worked on a set of dementia friendly sensory nature signs with Paths for All and Lucy Richards from Better Company. Read all about it on my website www.kimberlycarpenter.com/illustration/nature-sensory-signage

I just walked past a dried up old Christmas tree. It raises so many questions. Have they finally decided to throw it out now that they could buy a new one? Have I missed the holiday season entirely and it’s 2024 already?

Tattoos were religiously significant for the Mayans. They believed some of the power of the gods could be attained by capturing them in ink on their skin. A Mayan deity called Acat steadied the artists hands and blessed the ink and the sharp reeds used for drawing. #ink #folktaleweek2023

This is a personal project. I had some drawings in my sketchbook from two prompts ‘Quiet moment’ and ‘Afternoon Tea’. They made me think of serene Japanese tea gardens, the slow quiet ritual of tea ceremonies, and of being transported somewhere truly peaceful for a moment.

I’ve been working with the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership over the past 18 months on a brand update which included a set of bespoke icons and illustrations. Check out the full case study on www.kimberlycarpenter.com

I illustrated this activity book a little while ago for the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project. It was so much fun to work on and I’d really love illustrate another one. Get in touch if you’d like to work with me. www.kimberlycarpenter.com #kidlitart #activitybook #illustrator #non-fiction

I created this poster from some of the sketches I made while I was on holiday the other week. What do you think? #art #illustrator #kidlitart #travel

Some of my very best friends recently had a baby and asked me illustrate a lion cub for the birth announcement card. Apparently announcement cards are a pretty big deal in the Netherlands. Who knew? Also, isn’t Hiroshi just the cutest? #kidlitart #art #illustration
