I have spent the last few days pouring thru the opentelemtry-js docs and hammering it into a test express application. I need a drink. Or ice cream. Yea, ice cream is more the vibe.

I'll never understand why the folks behind PHP's Composer will not add native jsonc support. I remember when I first started playing with Deno 2 and discovered deno.jsonc. Native support for comments? In json? PHP had me thinking that was god tier level unattainable shit. 🫣

What it feels like to get Grafana running locally with Deno 2.2's unstable opentelemetry support while you're unemployed AF but wanting to play with monitoring software. The only thing I'm deploying these days are blog posts and unhinged tech memes. 🫠 #devops #javascript

Finally got OpenTelemetry working in Deno 2.2 and a lil Grafana "Datadog/Sentry at Home" stack running. I was missing a setting in my attempts. I am so happy right now. This just tickles my brain. I'll flush out a whole repo full of Dockerized examples soon. #javascript #devops

What I can only assume therapy for Rep. Nancy Mace looks like. #uspolitics #congress

How it feels to discover the FormData API after not really touching Javascript since the days of jQuery back in 2015. 👩‍🦳

My decade long annoyance of "why do CS people insist on using 'mutable' and 'immutable' when 'changeable' and 'unchangeable' is much easier to understand" has finally been answered by the javascript React documentation. 🎉

Deno 2.2.1 is out, and now with a feature I'm really excited for: better Open Telemetry support. With a Grafana stack running alongside your application, you can now have what I like to call "Datadog/Sentry at home." #devops #typescript #javascript

Honorable Republicans died with McCain. Every day is a new day that I wake up and think, "what the actual fuck is going on?" Like why is the GOP - of all parties - stacked with Russian sympathizers? Wild ass shit.

The daily news for the last month can be summarized by a simple: Trump did 3-50 things today that would have gotten Biden (or any other president in living history) impeached or thrown out of office via the 25th Amendment. How has it only been a month?

me: "I wonder why linux ppl on youtube complain about this thing called electron so much" also me: [runs pacman -Syu firefox and hits an error about how a dependency needed by a random version of electron would get deleted] ah, that's why.

I need people to explain to me how Magic the Gathering card sets work and what sets me up the best for getting the moogles :o magic.wizards.com/en/products/...

One more section done in my React course on Scrimba. Honestly kind of glad I mostly stepped away from javascript over the last, oh, 7 years or so. It's come a long way and it's pretty neat now.

Big shoutout to Grace Hopper for making modern tech careers possible by inventing the first compiler that took machine-independent English-ish language and turning it into computer code. She's a real one.

Does anyone have the faintest idea what I could be missing in my vite config or something to get preact-iso or react-router-dom to work? github.com/kimdcottrell... It keeps erroring out with "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '__H')" #javascript #deno #typescript

Opened up Twitter to see a conservative "gaming influencer" holding a poll on whether or not women should be allowed in the gaming industry. Not a day goes by where Martin Niemöller's First They Came doesn't run through my mind. The times we live in...

It forever amazes me that Amazon can own: - several media companies (thru M&A) - a cloud computing company - a payments gateway - a pharmacy company - a delivery company And not be broken up. I genuinely don't want to give Amazon another cent - and that's almost impossible given how much they own

I have thought, "wow, things sure have changed since jQuery" an embarrassing amount of times these last few months while learning modern javascript.

Now that I am begrudgingly learning React in order to understand Preact so I can understand Deno's Fresh, I once again am remembering why I left frontend development in the first place. Ah, javascript.

Sometimes I wonder if America is just cooked at this point. This is one of those times.

I've really only heard Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar before today, but after that Superbowl half time performance, he's my new favorite musician. Absolute art.

Absolutely RIP Philadelphia's street lights after this Super Bowl

Turns out you can run firewalld and docker at the same time. This guy figured out how to configure it.

Does anyone have strong opinions about javascript's Web Crypto API and Node's Crypto lib and wanna vent in my comments? I'm building an encrypted chat app using socket-io as a "please hire me I know stuff" portfolio project. I'm a little new to js apps and could use your thoughts.

Made a shocking discovery, the Linux Kernel is enabling diversity! I'm assembling a crack team of kids to purge it this weekend, and we'll see how that fat penguin likes Gitmo. @linuxkernel.bsky.social github.com/torvalds/lin...

"Can Elon do this?" is not the question we need to be asking. The real question is: "What's the end goal of Elon Musk's involvement in our government?" A big thread: 1/n

Sure, finally needing a cord that you have squirreled away in the ol' box of cords is great an all, but may I introduce you to the much similar box of chargers. I accidentally left my usual laptop charger at the gym, but nothin' to worry about in this house.
