As a former FOSS maintainer, I had definite criticisms of the CVE system, but I can't imagine how bad security will get with it gone. Even if some foundation, EU agency, etc takes over, it will take a while to ramp up to speed, and we'll be more vulnerable in the interim.

Still seeing people I like admonish leftist voters who didn't vote Harris. (Tho most of them voted for her anyway) Winning means turning out the base. Supporting ethnic cleansing in Palestine, campaigning w Cheney, etc. do the opposite. Pushing Harris left would make her more electable, not less.

The first time I ever chose not to finish a series, Scientology was in the news, and our library had all 10 books of Hubbard's Mission Earth. I started reading one lazy summer, but somewhere around volume 4, it spent 200 pages on a car race. It made a 10-yr-old question what he was doing with life.
