Understand the Republican Party is all about loyalty tests now. Every outrage is an opportunity to reinforce the dominance of the In group and filter out anyone suspected of disloyalty. They don't need to believe anything that's happening is right, they just need to prove loyalty again and again.

🧵 I argue that we can understand the functioning of democracy through 3 core ideals, verification, deliberation and accountability. While no democracy fully achieves those ideals, this thread explains how MAGA destroys all three and inevitably results in democratic regression into authoritarianism.

Also found some good reading. scholarship.law.duke.edu/cgi/viewcont....

Abraham Lincoln once called “the right of peaceable assembly” part of “the Constitutional substitute for revolution.”1

I don't care if these monstrous ICE raids are a "federal operation". This is authoritarian violence, plain and simple. Just because Stephen Miller has kidnapping quotas for brown people he doesn't want to see on the street doesn't mean we have to think it's okay.

I don't think most people actually understand what Musk did over the past 130 days. That's what's useful about the report. However, it's just a report and needs to be translated, disseminated, connected to other things currently happening etc... That's work that a political party would usually do.

What if the DNC and also the Democratic Party used their mail network to widely distribute Warren's Musk report? Rather than sending more fundraising solicitations, what if they focused on some political education?

Musk’s team was caught using a customized version of the Grok chatbot, without approval, to sift through sensitive government data inside the Department of Homeland Security. They used a modified version in an attempt to hide the fact that they were doing it.

I’m about to be on this Noah Samsen stream for Palestine! Tune in www.youtube.com/live/iGJtKfW...

I now think the greater benefit of term limits is the predictability it offers

Trump is weak

One of the things that will happen as this administration begins to see small victories slip through their fingers is that they will try to intimidate harder and louder to get people to stop fighting back.

i will defend and extend a platform to any politician who speaks out against the unjustifiable detainment of pro palestinian student activists. as will many americans.

Another lawmaker heading to El Salvador to demand Kilmar Abrego Garcia's release. "This is not just one family’s nightmare; it is a constitutional crisis that should outrage every single one of us,” says Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-Ore.). “I will travel to El Salvador to confront this crisis head on."

Harvard University: “We have informed the [Trump Administration] through our legal counsel that we will not accept their proposed agreement. The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights.” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 view.hu.harvard.edu?qs=351b45ebf...

This is exactly what Democrats should be doing!! You’ve got power and status so leverage it. More of this!!!!

so many dudes on this website are genocidal perverts who run away from how powerless they truly are & can only project an image of personal strength by fantasizing about the carnage their state could inflict over its perceived enemies.

It's Racketeering right?

Musk staffers are in the process of seizing control of the Peace Corps’ headquarters.

We are speedrunning the Declaration of Independence, folks.

Cory Booker is STILL going. This is what resisting fascism looks like. I don’t care if it’s not a “real” filibuster. Booker is taking drastic action to show his constituents that they are not alone. More of this, please.

The push back on this should be, what was the ruckus? Because so far what I've heard is that Ozturk wrote an op-ed in a student newspaper, that is it. The fact that the government can just swoop in and take someone should be extremely alarming to all.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social: Based on the group chat texts, it's not clear that the Commander-in-Chief made the final decision. "The core thing that was supposed to happen in these decision-making procedures clearly didn't happen," says Hayes.

I'm seeing a lot like this talk in my replies and I just want to say: GOOD! You SHOULD be skeptical of someone running for office! I am asking for power and that deserves scrutiny, especially if you're unfamiliar with me. Which is why I (and everyone else running) need to EARN your vote.
