Beyond excited to announce our in-person symposium to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ChemBioChem/ChemPhysChem! Advances in Structural Analysis of Biomolecules From Subcellular Imaging to Drug Design October 23-24, 2025, Berlin Please like and share: cbc-cpc2025.org

“...to care is an act not of weakness, but of strength.” The Lancet response: bit.ly/4jRb5Av

It's ChemPhysChem's 25th birthday! Check out this anniversary collection featuring papers by the board members. Contributions from @trujillo-group.bsky.social @svetlanatsogoeva.bsky.social @vanwijng.bsky.social @aomullane-echem.bsky.social @ibonalkorta.bsky.social & others🧪 tinyurl.com/2p8ynjs3

Our work on the analysis of residual couplings in the 1H and 2H NMR spectra of prochiral dimethyl sulfoxide dissolved in anisotropic gelatin gels is out now in ChemPhysChem!!

We're looking forward to #GWB2025 - only 6 days to go! Join us for stimulating talks on Academia & Parenting by Schirin Hanf (@kit.edu), @ralftonner.bsky.social (@unileipzig.bsky.social) & Theresa Kueckmann (Wiley-VCH). Join us in Weinheim or Berlin & register here: bit.ly/Wiley_GWB2025 #ChemSky

To mark the launch of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology today, I wrote this historical piece for the APS. physics.aps.org/articles/v18...

The 100th chemistry related starter pack added to the big list at tinyurl.com/ChemSkyStart... is "Org Chem 2"! Fantastic to see how the chemistry (and science communication) communities have embraced Bluesky! #ChemSky 🧪 If there are starter packs that I haven't added to this, please let me know!

When heated, cordierite shows very little overall expansion and negative thermal expansion along one direction. New molecular and lattice dynamics simulations are helping us understand why. www.chemistryworld.com/news/compute...

I'm delighted to share our opinion on #papermills published in Nature. Science is flooded with papers from paper mills.Certain steps can be taken, but this is a challenge that neither universities nor journals are ready to face. Some use paper mills to their advantage. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

The opening ceremony of the International Year of Quantum Science & Technology will take place on Feb. 4-5 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. There’s a great lineup of speakers (shorturl.at/DLYvi) including Physics Nobel Laureates Anne L'Huillier, Alain Aspect & William Phillips shorturl.at/qBwAb

Today we report a new compendium of human gut microbiomes with >168,000 samples By analyzing this massive dataset, we discovered distinct microbiome patterns across the globe, and show we can predict where a person lives just from their gut bacteria Now out in Cell: www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

We’re thrilled that our first paper on the Human Microbiome Compendium, an integrated dataset of over 168,000 uniformly processed human gut microbiome samples, is officially out today in Cell! @richabdill.com @blekhman.bsky.social www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

A great meeting on "Advances in Structural Analysis of Biomolecules" celebrating 25 years of ChemBioChem and ChemPhysChem will be happening on October 23rd and 24th in Berlin, Germany. If you want to participate, you can already register and send in an abstract. #chemsky #ChemBio www.cbc-cpc2025.org

Excited to have #selfdrivinglaboratories listed as one of the seven technologies to watch in 2025 by @nature.com Thanks to the #matterlab, the @accelerationc.bsky.social and of course all the global community on SDLs! @uoft.bsky.social @vectorinst.bsky.social l www.nature.com/articles/d41...

The Young Scientist Award of @gdchbiochem.bsky.social of @gdch.bsky.social is open for nominations. If you know an excellent candidate, who defended their PhD or had a publication in 2024 in the field of biochemistry (or related), consider nominating them. #chemsky #ChemBio en.gdch.de/network-s...

Join us in Copenhagen for the European Symposium on Organic Chemistry (x.com/ESOC_ISC, June 29-July 3) this summer: www.esoc2025.com

I don't know how I missed this (delightful) article by @lonepair.bsky.social, "Has generative artificial intelligence solved inverse materials design?", especially in light of *that* new Microsoft paper www.cell.com/matter/fullt... #EditorsLife

I’ll miss gently berating him about how he could never organise files on his laptop and always had hundreds of files on his desktop. Fraser delivered my first chemistry lecture and the rest is history… I learned so much and owe him so much. RIP. chemistry.northwestern.edu/people/in-me... #Chemsky

When I first arrived in Evanston, I found a handwritten note under my hotel door. It was from Fraser, welcoming me to Northwestern and saying how he looked forward to meeting me. Warm, kind, loving, generous, caring and inspiring mentor. You will live in our 🤍 forever. Thank you for so much, Fraser!

Deeply saddened by the news of Fraser Stoddart’s passing. Here is a piece I wrote on the occasion of his 2016 @nobelprize.bsky.social at ACSCentSci. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

Such sad news about Fraser, what an incredible figure in world chemistry. I feel lucky to have known him, and those he raised and mentored who then influenced me: his daughter Ali and @stuartcantrill.bsky.social
