Want to reduce crime and end homelessness? Start supporting supportive housing! vancouversun.com/opinion/op-e...

Supportive housing is evidence-based and non-partisan. Not long ago, people experiencing homelessness had to "graduate" into housing - they couldn't get housing if they used substances or had a mental illness. How can you recover from anything without a home? Read on 👇

Median age of homebuyers just hit a new record high of 56 (Via Torsten Slok)

CMHC housing starts: Ontario: 29% decline over past year. "Montreal posted a 112% year-over-year increase in...starts in January while Vancouver recorded a 37% increase, both driven by higher multi-unit starts. Starts in Toronto fell 41% from January 2024, driven by decreases in multi-unit starts."

This is wildly tone-deaf from the NYT and @peterbakernyt.bsky.social. If America conquered Canada, what would that mean for… the House of Representatives? www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/u...

the people who regard even the threat of a war with canada as an amusing cocktail-party anecdote and not as a moral abomination drive me mad

Honestly, I am not sure what America could do to repair relations with Canadians any time soon. What would it take for a Canadian to want to visit the US or buy US goods? Americans still think this is a trade dispute. They think its a compliment that their president wants to annex us. Delusional.

fondly remembering when the most embarrassing new york times coverage of canada was “they’re calling it c-day” instead of “after we conquered those cute perky people which of our leaders would they vote for?”

No, not to my knowledge. I'm a dual citizen and registered to vote in the States, and actually emailed my Rep. @wassermanschultz.house.gov about this. I got back a lazy, stock non-answer that didn't even include the word "Canada" in it. It's a pathetic and cowardly abandonment of their closest ally.

What are we doing here? If you want to game out the political ramifications of annexation maybe start with the fact that it would have to be an unwanted, forcible act against a sovereign nation. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/u...

Meanwhile, @nytimes.com is indulging Canschluss fan fiction when in actual fact there would be nothing but bodies and a generation of insurgency. The NYT beclowns itself. Article also features some idiot Democrat who refers to “Ontario Province,” so you know they’ve got the real experts on tap.

Every sensible Democrat (and Republican) of any official capacity in America should have spoken up for Canada the second a threat was uttered. Canadians feel betrayed, afraid, and insulted. Sadly, things will never be the same.

I really wish Americans would stop treating the continued existence of Canada as the sort of thing they can do amusing thought experiments about.
