One thing I love about birds that’ll take food from my hand is that I can often feel their feathers. Greylag geese are soooo soft. 🥹

Ooooh so I was wrong about this sweetie! Turns out Alice is a young male! He has also travelled a little bit further than Richard and Elise, who were ringed in the city.

From early January, another lovely interaction between Richard and Elise. 🥰 And greylags! I do see them along this stretch of river sometimes, but they’re not frequent visitors. Quick to realise I had food and were obviously used to people. Haven’t seen them since. Hope they visit again soon!

I love this silly swan. 🥹 Managed to get a photo of her (I think. Hoping the report will be able to tell me) BTO ring. She just kept nibbling at my hand looking for food, making it easy to keep her still while I took the pic! 🤣

Surprisingly gentle mute swan. I don’t typically let them eat out of my hand because the are very grabby and I get enough scrapes from the odd nip! 😂 But this one has pretty good aim.

At the time I posted this I actually hadn’t seen this pair of Egyptian geese in a while. The video is from 18th December, and they stopped showing up soon after. Others showed up, but I have really missed my original pair. 😭

Richard got annoyed at the Egyptian goose again. At least he dodged this time! Although Elise did grab him by the head earlier. 😅 And then straight into chasing off one of his own kind. Very territorial birds.

She's on my foot again! 😂 I'm gonna refer to her as "Grace" from now on. Swans are graceful. The first letter of her colour ring is a "G". And she's always ungracefully stepping on my feet. Swans are not always graceful. 😅
