I don't want to "You shouldn't..." anyone but none of you should be on Twitter.

Protests are taking place all over the country tonight against cuts to vital federal services. Here in Washington, people are marching to SpaceX’s offices demanding Musk be ousted from the government.

I just saw a whole-ass commercial for Amazon solely devoted to convincing the viewer what great employees they are THESE MFERS ARE SCARED BEYOND BELIEF OF BEING UNIONIZED

They sure did. Labor of love. #CloakAndDagger movieweb.com/cloak-and-da...

Friends in NYC, today is the LAST DAY to register as a Democrat online so you can vote in the June primary against Eric Adams! Please do it now!

Instead of introducing pointless "every sperm is sacred legislation," introduce a bill—a Pro-Birth Accountability Act—like Sen. Mia McLeod introduced in S. Carolina in 2019. I call it a "F**k You, Pay Me" bill. If states are going to force people to give birth, then states should pay for it.

Russ Vought set up a CFPB snitch line where you can report any work by the agency still trying to do its job as legally mandated by Congress. It would be a real shame if this was flooded with false tips and wild goose chases... x.com/CFPB_tipline

Where do they even find these cartoonish villains

This is David kingeter the ceo of impact plastics who made his workers stay at work during the hurricane. Learn his face and never let him forget

This. Is. Amazing. Finally, an ebook alternative for Amazon, but for independent bookstores. This is amazing for readers who want to be more intentional about where you're spending your money. 📖 #BookSky

Right to Repair would be an excellent outcome from this mess.

honestly that was an extraordinary speech which I kinda recommend watching in full (starts 1:14)

The PM of Canada is announcing his response to Trump’s tariffs—a major inflection point in Trump’s trade war and relations with our closest ally. CNN, MSNBC, ABC News Live and NBC News Now aren’t carrying his speech. They’re in reruns. Another quiet way media aids and supports the Trump regime.

My mentions are filled with people insisting Senate Democrats are powerless. They’re not. They can throw up roadblocks by denying unanimous consent, forcing quorum calls, using holds and filibusters, etc It’s so easy to figure out even a dimwit like Tuberville managed to pull it off.

Well there’s irony for you. A shortage of air traffic controllers at “Reagan” national airport. It’s named after the president that fired all 11,000 American ATC controllers (US civil servants) who were on strike and their union banned.

ATC people can’t go on strike because they’re government employees—they tried in 1981 and Reagan fired all of them. But you know who can go on strike? Pilots who work at private airlines. They should, because demonstrably what’s going on is unsafe for the passengers they’re responsible for.

GenAI being forced into everything is like if all the food companies starting putting a pinch of sand in all their products.

Assuming we are all on here talking about Reagan, anti-union villainy, and air traffic control? Or are we teaching the young ones labor history on the other app?

When a single billionaire can accumulate more money in 10 seconds than their employees make in one year, while workers struggle to meet the basic cost of rent and medicine, then yes, every billionaire really is a policy failure. Read our op-ed here ⤵️

haha awwesome post man. ICE just detained a bunch of people in new jersey by the way

Rolling Stone keeping it fucking real. WaPo may have let democracy die in darkness but RS is out here fighting the good fight. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

I'll never forget how a bunch of influencers were like "Project 2025 isn't real, Trump said so" before the election and now everything from Project 2025 is happening and people won't even connect the dots because so few people are willing to read a 922 page document

Fact

Big truth.

We're doing an *emergency* Bookstore and Chocolate Crawl on Saturday Jan. 11. We'll visit Medicine For Nightmares and Adobe, which suffered massive flood damage recently. Then we'll hit East Bay Booksellers, recovering from a fire. Plus Pegasus! Details/RSVP: www.eventbrite.com/e/emergency-...

A Japanese friend who moved to NYC in 80s was ranting about this to me yesterday, that a particular kind of Western obsession with Japan’s ‘futurism’ is just basically decent infrastructure, & the things appreciated in Japanese culture & aesthetics are rooted in things that are actually very old.

The maddening thing about visiting countries outside North America is realizing how easily politicians sell voters on investing public funds on infrastructure-- like efficient high speed rail. That we (Canada) or the US don't have HSR is down to corruption and lobbying from automakers and airlines.

We need and we want trains. Trains. A lot more trains Comfortable trains Clean trains. Trains that have working toilets and some luggage space. Seat on trains for people not tiny insects. Maybe a bar. Some tasty snacks. Regular trains. TRAINS!

The repeating thought I have every time I visit the UK lol Trains are just cool and practical and SMART and the US could be so much less hostile to its own inhabitants if we invested at all into this shit.

Also good clean public toilets. Also trains. And people who care about other people enough to wear a mask if they feel sniffly. And trains. And walkable neighborhoods. And trains.

Get a library card—even if you don’t plan to use it. Your registration helps secure funding for libraries, keeping them open and thriving for the entire community. Every card counts!

This is a great new years’ resolution for those of you who don’t already have a library card! And if you read e-books only, it will give you access to Libby and/or Hoopla, which are both great!

Seen a few folks astonished by my lack of support for ChatGPT and similar. Because AI, right? Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.

I’m in California right now so I’m obliged to remind the world — we don’t want AI. We want a robust rail system. We want trains. Metros. High speed. Locals. Cute trains. Efficient trains. Trains.

I don’t want to live in a world where I don’t get to take a cat-themed train from a railway station where the stationmaster is a cat.
