I’m old enough to remember the death of web crawler search engines—the general enshitification of metatags that made Infoseek and Altavista and a dozen others increasingly useless. Here’s how you get AI free results on google. Results are still crap, but now you don’t have to wade through AI for ‘em

Every time someone responds to an obviously normative-aspirational claim ("this not who we are", "this is not America", etc) with some I'm-very-radical descriptive rebuttal ("er actually America has always done <similar bad stuff>") an angel dies. Like, no joke, dead. Direct causal result of this.

archivists: we have no help maintaining the overwhelming pile of digital projects that were funded by one-time grants and have extensive recurring resource costs, this is a huge problem for literally every discipline venture capitalists: would you like a sexy robot Amelia Bedelia that doesn't work

My sign for the No Kings protest in Chicago. It was big. I don’t want to out anyone I don’t know so I’m not posting pics, but it was big and on message!

I’m sad I have to say this, because it ought to be obvious, but murdering Jews while yelling “Free Palestine” is evil. It is antisemitic. Too many folks on my feed are what-abouting because they agree with the shooter’s politics. That the other side is evil doesn’t excuse lack of self reflection.

Please highlight this story. ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago. kfor.com/news/local/w...

Something lovely to start the week! 🐙🏺❤️ I revisited Heraklion Archaeological Museum a few days ago to see these fabulous clay pots with octopus decoration. Made by artisans from Bronze Age Crete about 3,500 years ago! 📷 by me #Archaeology 🏺

BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda. Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them. I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.

I have drawn fanart for this video.
