Another episode of Strombolian activity at the Southeast Crater of #Etna, seen here on the evening of 11 April 2025. Similar to its predecessors, this episode had a distinct character. This time the particular detail was a little lava flow on the east side of the cone of the Southeast Crater.

🧪⚒️ The Lokbatan mud volcano in Azerbaijan erupted on Wednesday the 9th April. This is Lokbatan’s 29th recorded eruption. Its most recent previous eruption was in September 2024. No fires this time, but Lokbatan has often had fiery eruptions. Video courtesy Dr Orhan Abbasov

Day 2: Today we travelled north into Slovakia 🇸🇰 where we observed a basaltic diatreme section and had lots of discussions surrounding maar formation and infill Then we explored a tuff ring with a castle on top! Look at those baked clasts 🌋😍

Day One: Today on our field trip we visited Sámsonháza and saw this amazing outcrop! We looked at the contact between andesitic sills, volcaniclastics, and peperite 🌋 Lots of good rock chats and some great local food! Bring on day 2!

Unfortunately the Museum I grew up with. The Löwentormuseum which hosts the paleontological section has amazing fossils. A stolen one should not be there. #IrritatorBelongstoBR
