Had a blast. So long. #MCChicago

Watching the finals of #PTDFT feels like a good way to wrap MagicCon.

Maiden voyage of Kev Walker Cube at MagicCon!

Capping off an excellent MagicCon Saturday with an 8 course meal at Boka. 🤤

Found one more. 🥰

Ya’ boy @mistermetronome.bsky.social battling at 2-0 in the PTQ.

One of my absolute favorite parts of cons is seeing old friends. I met Liz at a LGS in college and we’ve been running into each other for nearly 20 years! She’s an incredible, delightful human. Oh, and also had a big hand in putting together the events at MagicCon. Thanks Liz!

Hanging out with @ghirapurigears at his meet and greet this morning.

Good morning. 😘

It’s true. 😅

By my count, there are over 50 of my alters among collectors and dealers at MagicCon Chicago. Work spanning well more than a decade. Pretty neat.

Auction is up! I’ll have this one on me all weekend in Chicago, if you care to see it in person. www.ebay.com/itm/13556666...

Studio Ghibli Power, Walking Dead Walking Dead’s, and a Mucha.

Nice to be in the case next to Power and painted artist proofs.

I’m told Christopher Rush signed the Pearl after I painted it (as I referenced his Unglued Plains). Rest well Chris.

Watching @kenmeyerjrartist.bsky.social’s booth. 😂

More past work at MagicCon!!

Got to meet some of my collectors at MagicCon. Crazy to see work from 2011 after all this time!

Freshly sleeved Kev Walker Cube at MagicCon. All Kev Walker art + 10 fetches/shocks. What’s the pick?

👋

Crowd waiting to get into MagicCon this morning.

On my way to Chicago. As a 6’ 4” dude, hell yes exit row.

Got back on my bike today for the first time in a few weeks, but they still remember my order at the coffee shop. Hibernation is almost over.

This sort of alter style was popular 10-15 years ago but I hadn't painted one until now. Another piece I'll be showing off at MagicCon Chicago.

A Black Mage Phenax from a few years back.

Drive home for two days of rest then leave for MagicCon Chicago on Thursday.

Trinity! Help.

Good morning.

This Hypnotoad was born out of pondering how I could further play with optics on a card. Hand painting the background was a challenge, but I’m fairly satisfied the effect.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Find someone that smiles at you like the Joker does at a room full of gangsters.

Observation regarding Aether Drift Bo1. I think the reason we’re seeing Green have an early edge is because it’s so good at recovering. I think most of the color pairs are playable, but the Green ones are just better at winning matches where they stumble.

Want to see a Magic trick? Traveling with me to MagicCon Chicago - if you ever wanted to see one of my pieces in person.

For the most part I love teaching and answering questions about painting. That said, there's too much hesitation from budding artists to just try things out and see what works. Practice. Trial and error. These are the keys to getting better at anything.

🏆 Took playing with Elvish Refueler to really grasp how busted it can be. UG has some nice engines in this set.

Watery Grave painted after Sir John Everett Millais's 1851-52 work 'Ophelia'.

Someone asked to see my palette as it’s out of view in my videos. So here you go: 30 minutes of color mixing condensed to ~30 seconds.

When Thunder Junction was being spoiled I knew I wanted to do a Clint Eastwood alter. Final Showdown fit the bill, but when mocking the card up it felt a little lacking. The mock sat for a bit until I had the idea to incorporate Lee Van Cleef.
