Have you ever wanted to be published in a real knitting/crochet magazine? Here is your chance! Knitty's Call for Submissions for Winter '25. The theme? Scraptastic! All details here including how you keep your copyright and get paid for your work: knitty.com/subguide.php Good luck! 🧶

Clapotisfest emails have resumed just now. I didn't realize it had been since FRICKING APRIL since I last wrote someone, and worst of all, had received someone's pick and didn't have the spoons to forward it on to the dyer till now. I'm so sorry, y'all. Back on the horse.

This is how insidious AI is in our online world. As a more-than-50-something woman, I'm deeply offended by this horrid human targeting women my age, but not surprised in the least. futurism.com/slop-farmer-... People, gently educate your elders so they don't fall for this garbage.

I have a sleep test tonight and have to fight the urge to nap. (I've been using my CPAP religiously since diagnosis in 2014. Wanted to know if my settings are correct since my body has changed size dramatically since the last time I was tested.) Better go do some corrugated ribbing.

A whole bunch of Knitty patterns (FREE, of course) in this Jawsy post. Have at it! 🧶 🦈

Knitty First Fall is Up! 👀🧶👀

Gosh, what could I be knitting? 🧶 #knittyCoverPattern The pattern is coming out soon! (This corrugated ribbing looks amazing but man is it slow. It IS my first time, tho. #TwoHandedKnitting)

“…Juneteenth, the day we celebrate the end of slavery, the day we memorialize those who offered us hope for the future and the day when we renew our commitment to the struggle for freedom.” – Angela Davis | Author & Political Activist

For the first time ever, we are featuring a SURPRISE pattern on the cover. That beautiful brown and white tank by Amy Gunderson with the sexy deep back - or front! - called Bongo (after the brown and white striped Bongo Antelope) will come in mid-July, along with the rest of the SURPRISE patterns. 🧶

So good, we had her in twice! Another @harviekate creation and this one has a mission. There seems to be an abiding belief in the knitting community that brioche is a completely different kind of knitting to "ordinary" knitting and requires special training and terminology. 🧶

For your literary little one, or someone merely whale obsessed, meet Moby Richard! Channel your inner Ahab and knit your own great white whale. Designer Frances Gillespie has knit him in a realistic shade of gray, but white is an option for literary classics buffs. 🧶

It's just getting warm, but here's a pattern to knit ahead for cold weather, or gift season! From Knitty favorite @harviekate, Really Useful Gloves (or RUGs) are just what you might be needing! They let you have your fingers and thumb available when needed... 🧶 #liveLongAndProsper

OOH we love a new sock technique! From Amanda Schwabe, a new heel that works toe-up and top-down. It's like other short-row heels, with 2 significant differences: first, short row turns are on the outsides of the heel, so there are no gaps and it makes really cool stripes. 🧶

From Andrea Pfuhl: "Ruska aika" is the Finnish expression for the "time of bright autumn colors" in Lapland. September is the most colorful month in the tundra. While sunnier southern slopes are still green, Arctic shrubs and heather on the northern sides turn shades of red, orange, yellow. 🧶

This sweet thing is Linen Stitch Stripes, a simple but impressive colorwork yoke pullover by Laura Barker! Done in sexy @missbabsyarns Yowza, the simple overall pattern shows off the yarns and makes it accessible to most knitters. 🧶

The namesake of the new issue, Convertible, is a clever customizable cardigan by Laura Zukaite. This fitted ribbed cardigan was designed in natural undyed alpaca and it can be worn in so many different ways. The collar is the main focus: you can tie, drape, and wrap it. 🧶

Let's go through the new issue! First, from Renee Kulling, her take on the ideal camping sweater. It should be warm to account for cold nights under the stars. It should be lightweight but sturdy for stowing in a pack. It should be adaptable and useful in changing weather and conditions. 🧶

Knitty.com has been around about as long as I've been knitting. I've learned so much from them and have knit lots of patterns they've shared. 🧶

The new Knitty First Fall issue has just gone live for THE WHOLE WORLD! Find it here: knitty.com and tell all your yarny friends! A magazine with high-quality tech edited patterns that are free. FREE, I tell you! 🧶 #shareandenjoy #gladtobeofservice

Elon has ruined everything he's touched, including America. He owes us all the receipts he has on Trump. But we'll still despise him. There is no redemption. #nomorebillionnaires
