A big reason you don't comply in advance is to force fascists to enforce their oppressive policies, in court or physically. When you capitulate to illegal orders, you flip the responsibility of fighting for rights onto the oppressed - rights they already had to begin with. Don't fucking comply.

I had a horrible dream where every digital art tool was banned by an oligarch and replaced with a social media based centralized subscription app called Maakentool. Video editing, photo manip, CAD, 3D printing, it did everything. And it sucked.
