Shocked and saddened by the passing of David Lynch. Despite his old age and a lifetime of smoking, I somehow always regarded him as an eternal alchemist that would live forever. Rest in peace? Sounds too boring for him. I wish him adventurous travels to the world beyond. πŸ–€

If you see this, repost with the first kdrama you watched. For me, as for many army's, it was Hwarang. Little did I know, it would make me a K-drama-holic with now more than 120+ series watched.... πŸ™ˆ

Travel diary Korea: Day 22 And off to the airport we go! Thanks for this time, beautiful South Korea! πŸ‡°πŸ‡·πŸ₯° Loving that the liquids defined by airport security isn't the usual water or alcohol, but instead kimchi and gochujang! As it should 😊

Travel diary Korea: Day 21 Last day of this trip and it was all about family - and food! So thankful for all the new memories made with my Korean family! I could easily imagine staying here muuuuuuuuch longer!

Travel diary Korea: Day 20 Rode the Seohaerang Marine Cable Car today! A 2 km long journey above the tidal flats from Jeongok Port to Jebudo island and back. Stunning scenery and the muddy waters below were like an ever-changing artwork. πŸ’™

That's a wrap on THAT SUMMER'S END by Lee Seong-bok, a collection of poems on love and suffering (very Seon Buddhist), recently made popular by RM of BTS, set to be released by Knopf in 2026 ✨ This is my first book translation of Korean poetry into English (I've done Ocean Vuong from Eng to Kor).

Travel diary Korea: Day 19 Went to an amazing eel restaurant in Seongnam! First experience having grilled eel and it was mindblowingly good. Just melts in the mouth. Eaten as a ssam with perilla leaves, salads, ssamjang, fresh ginger and grilled garlic. Yumyumyum! πŸ₯°

Travel diary Korea: Day 18 On the islands next to Gimpo, I caught the westcoast sunset with my love. Feeling grateful about this memorable trip 🧑

Travel diary Korea: Day 17 Visited the renowned cafΓ©/heritage space/music venue Banjul in Jongno, Seoul. Four floors filled with local history that is still very much alive and thriving. A local gem! Discovered that it's also a filming location from Reply 1988, a K-drama which I have yet to see!

Travel diary Korea: Day 16 We accidentally walked right into the lantern festival along Cheonggyecheon stream. Amazed by the spectacular light design! Anyone visiting Seoul before Jan 12th needs to pay it a visit.

Travel diary Korea: Day 15 Making kimbap with my mother-in-law. Cherishing every bit of advice on how to improve my kimbap-making skills from the one who knows the best πŸ₯°

Travel diary Korea: Day 14 At Anmok Beach. Traded mountains for the sea. As beautiful as the mountains are, the contrast of arriving at the beach feels so refreshing and uplifting!

Travel diary Korea: Day 13 Had a magical day hiking the Seoraksan mountain and visiting the Sinheungsa temple. Historically, the deities of the mountain all enjoyed relaxing in the stunning surroundings & basking in their own godliness. Considering how beautiful this place is, I can't blame them!

Travel diary Korea: Day 12 Family roadtrip to Korea's East Coast! Feels amazing leaving the city for a while and breathe in the fresh mountain air. πŸŒ¬πŸ’¨

Travel diary Korea: Day 11 Good times out with friends in Yongsan, while exploring a few more types of Makgeolli!

Travel diary Korea: Day 10 After a day of visiting Changdeokgung Palace & it's Secret Garden, The Blue House, and walked through Bukchon, Insadong, and took hundreds of photos, I'll simply post this: One of the most perfect trees I've ever seen, located on the foothill of the Blue House grounds.

Travel diary Korea: Day 9 Today, we visited MMCA, The National Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art! Stunning architecture meets amazing nature, and a great collection of modern and contemporary art. Loved the exhibit on contemporary Korean ceramics. 🀎

Travel diary Korea: Day 8 Finally made it to Starfield Library! I've seen a million pictures of it through the years, so it was fun to be there in person. But how anyone can focus well enough to actually read a book in such a hectic place remains a mystery. πŸ˜…

Travel diary Korea: Day 7 Defied the icy cold and explored the narrow streets of Chungmuro.

Travel diary Korea: Day 6 The window of an art school for kids made me smile! 🌸

Travel diary Korea: Day 5 Being sick, I am staying in these days. But that doesn't stop me from crossing off another bucketlist food off my list. These unassuming roasted Korean sweet potatoes are so good! Creamy and sweet with the perfect roasted flavor! The taste reminds me of chestnuts 🌰 Yum!

Travel diary Korea: Day 4 Unfortunatelt, I had to start my trip with 3 days of work, yet each day held many small happinesses. Among today's, having a bowl of boiling hot beansprout soup, μ½©λ‚˜λ¬Όκ΅, with radish kimchi. Needless to day, I finished the whole bowl. 😊

Travel diary Korea: Day 3 Snack night with my boyfriend! Nothing beats compiling a meal from a Korean convenience store!

Travel diary Korea: Day 2 Finally got to eat Shine Muscat grapes! Wow. Best grape I ever ate. Went well above my expectation! So juicy, firm and huge! Very satisfying to bite into and the flavor felt like a mix between melon and litchi. Will eat again tomorrow.

Travel diary Korea: Day 1 My first ever Bungeo-ppang! It was less sweet than I expected, perfectly positioned in between food and dessert - crispy, slightly fluffy, filled with hot, red bean paste. Eaten hot, straight from the vendor, how can it not be great!?
