Regex with AI support: Me: Write a regex that... AI: Here you are. Me: Doesn't work. AI: Ah, I see the issue. Me: Still doesn't work. AI: Ah, I see... Me: No, the problem is... AI: Ah, I see... Me: Nope. Can it be that ... AI: Ah, I see ... Me: *clicking cancel and writing helper text for the user*

I use LLMs as friendly assistants for coding.  But I am often not satisfied with the quality of the code, especially when it gets more complicated. On the other hand, I love to use them for boring stuff like I18N, error handling, or refactoring large files into components. What's your experience?

Me, 30 years ago, coding C in an ASCII text editor:  1 week thinking it through, 1 week writing code, printing it out, 2 weeks debugging the code Me, today, coding with VSCode and LLM extensions: Typing "import" tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab  #programming

Visitors now also start coming from AI like ChatGPT and Perplexity to apocha. It really looks like Google is losing some share of the search engine market.

👋 I am currently working on apocha's GUI. I want to synchronize two selections via a mobx store. It's quite an simple task. So I asked Claude Sonnet for it. It failed. Then I asked Deepseek R1. It failed. I will now try OpenAI o1. If it fails I'll do it manually in 15 minutes. But first: ☕

As a solopreneur I sometimes get lost in the huge number of pending and future to-dos I have in mind. What tool do you use for to-do and issue tracking? Do you prefer cloud based or local tools? #BuildInPublic

Info from one of my domain providers about price increases: .ai +70% .app +38% .cloud +33% .email +17% .io +25% .me +46% Of course, I know that one has to have a lot of unused domains, but enough is enough. What would you do? I think it's time to say goodbye to some of them. #BuildInPublic

Wahnsinn!

You paid $7.28 for a dozen eggs? And $4.64 for butter? These prices are insane. If you’re tired of feeling blindsided by the price hikes on essentials, you can use apocha's simple receipt scanner to track the prices. Upload a photo and download an Excel. Free and without registration. 👇

apocha's categorization engine works for German and English invoices. Today I played around with LLMs for receipts from Spain.  Encouraging, but with hallucinations and errors. I want 100%. To be continued. #BuildInPublic ➡️ https://apocha.app/receiptscanner/49e04f66-9c0b-4e85-b9c8-cb5b3a7b0044

What would you think of an expense management and budgeting app that provides you with an API? Since I have a lot of internal API endpoints I also started to make them available via a public API secured by your private API key. I call it a day now. Have a nice evening.

Today I started testing apocha's receipt scanner with some receipts from the US. Looks promising. 😃 You can try it yourself and download the result as Excel. apocha's receipt scanner is free and works without registration: https://apocha.app/receiptscanner/462751cd-cfe5-49a6-bd27-eeb815eb8694

"MacOS Safari is what happens when you're busy making other plans."  -- freely adapted from John Lennon For today I had some great plans working on apocha 2.0 bc I want to offer a beta at the beginning of February. But Safari doesn't even show the login page. Working on it. #BuildInPublic

Today I started working on one of the most frequently requested features: the filtering of new entries. But I'll go one step further. apocha will get a dashboard widget for entries which are - duplicates - new - not fully categorized or have - no account connected - other errors #buildinpublic

Today I worked on the apocha expense tracker playing around with dashboard widgets. The widget shows information many users asked about: duplicate entries, new entries, incorrect entries and so on. Which other info would you like to see in your expense tracker dashboard? Examples in comments 👇

For me, the time around Christmas is the time to reflect the year that ends and to make plans for the next year. This year I had to decide how to handle the high workload coming from freelancing and my side project @apocha.app.

Sunday fun: doing a code review with my AI colleague.

It works on my machine. (TM) It works on the integration test server. It does not work in production. After a mighty battle with misleading error messages it now works. I call it a day. Have a nice evening.

It's on its way. 🥳

I have been asked whether I follow back. That was my answer. Now she, a "worker of Jesus" blocked me. Interesting. So, in case you want to follow me to get a follow back: don't.

I started software development in 1983 (yes I'm old) using a Wang 2200 in our school. Among others like SUN, HP, and Silicon Graphics workstations I used Intel/AMD based computers running some kind of Unix/Linux. #buildinpublic

Not so easy run bei ordentlichem Gegenwind.

Na? Auch schon einen Baum organisiert?

Using an Image, that shows a movie you are sure have watched more than 10 times.

Guten Morgen. Noch 7 Stunden, bis hier alle zu Threads abwandern.
