At this point, I feel like massive protests need to happen sooner rather than later while there is less risk of being legally murdered by our military.

I’ve seen lots of posts about the US extortion of Ukraine over mineral rights, and I’m going to go crazy. This conversation is being led by business & political leaders with no technical knowledge in mining or earth science! If I can get the babies down for a nap, I’ll write a longer 🧵

Sure, the USPS has problems. But we can't give up on it I was living in Guatemala when its national postal service shut down. It's never come back, and its absence enabled massive import fraud. Everyone loses when public services close.

A #FridayFold video pan over my office windowsill. A dozen fold samples and various other treasures. ⚒️

When MAGA watches Saving Private Ryan, are they rooting for the Germans?

Why do we hear about Poptarts but never Momtarts? I think it’s the pastryarchy.

Imagining a future where every presentation of a time series has an asterisk, dotted line or gap to represent the missing data from the coming “war years.”

At this point I feel gratitude for a 53rd revolution around the sun. Let’s hope there are more revolutions this year too. 😉

I see they started with the copyeditors.

Environmental collapse in 2031 will be a fitting topper to the next four years.

Landsat has had a phenomenal impact on many fields of study. It is a great example of government investment for a huge public return. No one ever says”Darn, I wish people didn’t collect all that data “. Even lower res data are useful and the continuous temporal coverage is amazing.

I'm getting tired of news stories that use "controversial" when they should say "Nazi"

It’s like they care about their citizens

Do I see a trend? Could the climate be changing?

I feel so safe

Oh I’m sure that will make it much more efficient. And I wonder if there are any private firms with lower safety standards open to picking up the slack?

铁饭碗 or iron rice bowl One of my favorite Chinese phrases because it speaks to the most basic needs of life. Security in the form of a job and therefore enough to eat.

I have to admit, I, too, am mad.

This is quite the escalation of drone usage with some unintended consequences

Green River at Warren Bridge, Wyoming. USGS 09188500. Source of data for this week's geomorph lab. And every time I set the lab up, I think about the beautiful September morning when I stopped here and took these photos. Wind River Range in the distance. Now hoping these gages keep running.

A physician member of the AMA—who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation—is sounding the alarm. “The current admin prohibited all communications of the CDC and other agencies with the public. Now, the public and physicians are left with no info on food recalls or disease outbreaks.“

Whatever else the mainstream media is doing (or not doing), journalists need solidarity in the face of anti-1st-Amendment tyranny. My colleague Jim Friedlich with a provocative Philadelphia Inquirer op-ed on whether journalism needs a NATO-type pact www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?
