Riddle me this... We abbreviate "until" to "till," adding an extra L (instead of shortening it to "til"). But we use the suffix -ful, to change a meaning to "full of" which appears to be missing an L. I've learned a lot of English language rules in #secularhomeschooling but this still seems stupid

2025 Book #5 : The Women by Kristin Hannah (narrator Julia Whelan) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This #historicalfiction from the POV of an Army nurse who did two tours in Vietnam in the 60s is a real roller coaster. Happiness & devastation throughout, with a shitload of gaslighting ("no women were in Vietnam") #booksky

I've been boycotting most of these companies with a decent amount of success for years. But I'm happy to try even harder to align with a concerted effort. #boycott #economicblackout

I gave "Gulf of America" a 1-star review on Google, saying that it can't even compare to the Gulf of Mexico. And here's another easy, quick, & tiny (probably fairly ineffectual) act of resistance: report the search results as inaccurate to Google when "Gulf of America" comes up

AI can’t imagine a future humanity hasn’t already conceived of because its output is our stolen art and work. It doesn’t think past what we’ve already created.

Okay, I think I figured out what I like listening to for #throneofglass #booksky Soundtracks from the following films give me the ToG vibe: Narnia films, Robin Hood (both 1991 and 2010 actually), Stardust, & some Hobbit songs. (HP & LOTR don't work bc I know those songs too well)

Tell me you've got relatives (mom) who hears you kinda like something once & then assumes you still like it year after year after year without telling me (2003-15) For 12 years, my annual ornament was something from the Peanuts cartoon series 😏 Is it okay, at 37, to quietly donate some of these? 😬

Reading 1984 for the first time, in my late-30s, in the current events of the US, with a decent knowledge of history (history minor in university) is.....pretty wild 👀 #booksky

Okay #booksky... I'm reading Throne of Glass. I need rec for what to *listen to* while I'm reading (Instrumental only) When I read ACOTAR, I listened to music that felt kinda fae-like to me (musicians listed in image). Throne of Glass seems less magical, but I can't pinpoint the vibe

They probably expect that those industries will just spring up in the US overnight. So the US will be able to produce everything the US needs. So we can "buy American" products only & keep the money in the country. Idk how much time it'll take for the infrastructure to be built. Years, at best.

Without compromising too much on whatever level of rigor your learners are capable of, combine as many subjects as possible. Differentiate instruction as needed.

2025 Book #4 : The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (narrated by Katie Schorr) I loved this book so much! #historicalfiction set in 1930s Kentucky Appalachia. Protagonist is a pack-horse librarian bringing books to the hill folk. Excellent narrator! #booksky

2025 Book #3 : A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A #secularhomeschooler read-aloud for 4th grade. I've read this 2-3 times before and have always really enjoyed it. The 10yo liked it, and we will have a movie day tomorrow to watch the film. They said 5½ out of 10 stars ☺️ #booksky

Again, why is this surprising anyone? *Nothing* should be surprising when it involves the fascists 🤦🏻‍♀️

When clowns show up in your feed, you can report them for "bullying or harassment" for the "unwanted contact" btw 😊 I know I'm not the only one who reported this specific post either 😅 (oh, then you block them of course)

What's a good Google alternative for email services? (Not Outlook or Yahoo either). Google is too entrenched with the wrong people & has too much power, just like Amazon & Meta. #bigtech

Is it just me, or do glue sticks suck these days? It doesn't seem to matter what kind of paper we use, the glue just doesn't stick. Brand name, generic, none of it. And I'm just a #secularhomeschooler. I can't even imagine this nightmare for teachers with a bunch of learners on their hands.

StoryGraph is probably wondering why I'm reading so many books at one time. Homeschool. The answer is homeschool. #booksky #secularhomeschooler

I can 💯 get behind Julia Donaldson representing the UK as best author. My 7yo has been IN LOVE with all her characters for almost 5 years. And we buy her books as they release, even if they're aging out of the picture book stage. The Gruffalo & Zog are favorites of my own #booksky #kidslit

Okay #booksky & #booktok... This isn't related to books particularly, but to knowledge. What are things we should be getting off the interwebs to save/print that an orange man is going to try to delete? (ie, What history is he going to try to erase from our access bc it "embarrasses the US"?)

Trump gave some sort of little speech during halftime of the college football championship. Tuned it out, but caught, "We will be admired again." And I'm like, "You can't force people into admiring you/us, my dude. 'That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.'" #trumpsucks

💯💯💯 #booksky Buy new, buy used. I love Thriftbooks is great for used online. Hell, if you need to, even use Amazon--as much as I hate Bezos, I understand that their cheap prices are necessary for some people. The further we go into the digital sphere, analog/physical is more necessary than ever

The "parents rights" push on the right is actively harmful to children. Child liberation>parent's rights
