"Harvard isn’t solely to blame for Elise and Vivek going full fash, but...the Ivy League is a fertile environment for casually cruel 'maverick' ideas. Professors suggest top-down social engineering or justify the worst human tendencies... THEY couldn’t get into Harvard, after all." #pinkfloydthewall

For many people, Instagram reels turned into ‘Faces of Death’ this morning without warning. e.g.: real footage of a guy getting stomped to death by an elephant. 🐘 Has this happened to your feed? www.reddit.com/r/Instagram/...

One of California's best rock bands, bringing the heeeeeat (and adding horns)

These folks have never *ever* believed in freedom of speech, or freedom of any kind but the freedom to amass levels of wealth that are cataclysmic to organized society. Cancel your subscription and make a donation to kick-ass independent journalism of your choice.

A valuable service right here

Im not joking i think we need to draft jon stewart to run against all this shit www.youtube.com/watch?v=utl2...

The significance of March 14. “Republicans are coming to the Democrats hat in hand: We’re about to shut down the government. Help us prevent our extremists from doing that. Dems have to name their price. That’s presumably or should be no help until the criminal conduct stops.” from Josh Marshall:

Yes, I am paying attention to the news. Yes, I’m ready to take to the streets. But yes, I’m also all about these Severance theories y’all.

odd time for a book tour, tbh

Maximus is very kissy this afternoon. Dunno why. Spring is near?

The good folks at TVU made a 27-min doc about my band. I must admit, I kinda love being an interview subject. Streaming at tellingvisionsunlimited.com as “Club Sets.” www.instagram.com/reel/DGUAgVb...

At the HydeOut in the Tenderloin today, helping Xifer 40-A track guitar parts for the new @duckswithpants.bsky.social E.G. Phillips songs. Bacon, the best canine assistant producer on the West Coast.

Just taking a moment to acknowledge how much I fucking LOVE California.

Can someone get him into an overfilled hot tub before he sobers up?

For all the USPS's faults, Americans have to realize: It's one of the best postal services in the world, even after being kneecapped by DeJoy. Fight for our postal service, guys. I know I will. It is an essential public good.

Why am I a fan of John Oliver and @lastweektonight.com ? It's for exemplary behavior such as this...

Just in time for the quarter-millennial. Er, the semiquincentennial, that is.

I’ve been warning that the Tech Bros want the S.F. Presidio for a “freedom city”. Now this. 👇 1/

It’s rare that I play a solo show. A variety of reasons for that. It’s exciting to try, but I seldom do. However, I love this animal rescue program, so I’m playing a benefit to raise $ for them this Sunday. 1-4pm

Sums it up

My day job exposes me to a lot of modern Gospel music. If you don't listen to Gospel, you likely miss some of these titanic dance jams. Here's one that is massive. Almost GO-GO. It's Kirk Franklin, who is of course a massive star in that world. But oh man, those horn line hits & big syncopations.

One idea: The smartest thing elected Dems can do is push for the gov't to cancel any contracts with SpaceX / Neuralink / Tesla. The only way to distract Musk from DOGE Destruction is to stand in the way of his companies' sweet crony contracts.

Dave Hill @mrdavehill.bsky.social should appear at the Fillmore every Tuesday night. In lieu of that… at least he was there last night. Cleveland Heights ftw.

Very much enjoyed @jasonnarducy.bsky.social & Michael Shannon taking on Reconstruction of the Fables of the Reconstruction. Deeep cuts! Ace song selection. @yournewfavoriteguy.bsky.social was all for it as well. Not to be missed. Looking forward to Life’s Rich Pageant.

Reading Comprehension fail

Occasionally, a CD leaps out of my shelves, struts around on the coffee table, and insists that I become reaquainted. This week, it's the only album by the marvelous supergroup from '96, Mind Science of the Mind. Nathan Larson, Mary Timony, Joan Wasser, & Kevin March. (And on tour, Jeff Buckley.)

Do go on…

A happy NO KINGS DAY to you and yours.

Seal Party is the subject of a new 27-minute documentary, available at www.tellingvisionsunlimited.com -- look for "Club Sets, Season 1 Episode 01." Enjoy!

Time to scramble, I guess.

Meanwhile, some music is a brain massage, and infused with undeniable positivity and glow. "Golden Time of Day." How did I not know that Maze based in the Bay Area from 1971 on? I always thought they were based in Philadelphia. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa3L...

Sometimes you want music to be a salve, or uplift, or a gesture of good will, or escapism. Other times, you want music to reflect the ugliness of the moment. If you want the latter, I recommend headphones for this brutal Einstürzende Neubaten track: "Headcleaner." www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbzw...

Another earthquake at 1:59. (Felt in San Leandro.)

Quality choice of metaphor from @pbirk.bsky.social

Appreciating the Sharks’ subtle reminder that many of our favorite Sharks 🦈 are Canadian. 🇨🇦 Canada, our sovereign neighbor. No 51st state.

11:52 (Pacific) earthquake felt in Castro Valley. You?
