In Sydney as a visiting chair in sexuality studies at USyd HISS. In these times, what does it mean to convene as a queer school and further the study and construction of queer-trans archive? My pedagogy notes abound, especially as I prepare to meet folx from worlds close and wide, starting tomorrow.

Ending the two day art and architecture pedagogues’ meet on a call for radical dreaming through/as scholarship. To be in community and participate in debates was important, but to continually also locate oneself and these debates against academic patriarchy felt equally urgent even if/when tiring.

Sharing this great interview with Marsha and Sylvia conducted the year after the Stonewall uprising. They discuss their understanding of themselves as transvestites, transsexuals, and women, but the part of their identity most commonly erased is that of radical revolutionaries

Carry a mat, water bottle, and feminist text with you to tomorrow's circle. We will take time to read in community and bring out selections from those books to ask questions, think with frameworks, discuss histories and genealogies, and challenge assumptions at the end.

On Saturday (Feb 8, 10:30 AM), the Feminist Solidarities Reading Circle will convene outside the Cubbon Park State Central Library w/ members of the Just Futures Co-lab. We will bring texts that center anti-caste, disability-justice, queer- and trans-feminist politics for community access. Join us!

“Black History Month existed long before presidents endorsed it, and it will continue, even if presidents do not,” said Martha Jones, a professor of history and a presidential scholar at Johns Hopkins University.

"But some dreams stay with us in the day // And that becomes our मकसद // Now I have passed on that dream to my mother // That is the beauty of dreams // They can be passed from one to another"—Kavita, "The Beauty of Dreams," New Learning Center, Raipur (newest additions to the Just Futures Co-lab).

And just like that the people I met at the cafe or those I’ve spoken to about the cafe now send me photos of their revisits or first visits there—and I receive updates on all of the wonderful trans folx whom I befriended and who still work there. Letters, community, mutual aid. Grateful.

The newest Felt Notes 💌 carry with them a listing of new title additions to the Just Futures Co-lab Library and my gratitude to all those who visit the lab, contribute to building its reference collection, and find community in and with this initiative: buttondown.com/JustFuturesC...

New additions to the Just Futures Co-lab Library include these brilliant publications from Thirunangai Press (thirunangaipress.com/about-us/), thanks to anu and their ever-so-thoughtful movements in the world. anu and eyeshaan—so much love to us and what we’re building in community!

I conclude this month's Felt Notes with a playlist of songs and annotations in dialogue with research on queer- and trans-feminist archiving practices at the Just Futures Co-lab: buttondown.com/JustFuturesC... To read or download the playlist poster, see: drive.google.com/file/d/1eY7-... (PDF)

Ending the day w/ a film screening, a set of poetry readings, and listening to songs of queer-trans joy, ambition and breathing in community. Bella, the puppy, held us together as we sat in a circle, laying bare the many threads of trans+ness. Maya and Indira: thank you so much for the warm welcome.

In this whirlwind of a visit to Baroda, my queer-trans meetings, encounters, and convos w/ groups, collectives, individuals, and allies—including the queen herself, have been a high like no other. Gajra café, thanks for being that space, community, and tentacular presence for me in the city. 💜

Julietta Singh's No Archive Will Restore You felt closest to honoring this present, a trace not connected to the past, but about a shared ongoing present.

Moments spent with D over the past two days have been the most incredible this year what with all of the emotions resurfacing in ways both serendipitous and intentional. Such is queer-trans love and longing: tender, anxious, forthright, intimate, trusting, adventurous—and hopefully, not fleeting.

In last month's Felt Notes, I ask: where might we begin to “amplify disabled nonconformity” as pedagogy and praxis? The resulting version 1 of Neurodiverse Learning Information Sheet is held together by members of my DH lab, especially as we invite edits in community: buttondown.com/JustFuturesC...

Spent the #DayOfDH2024 editing a transcript of an interview w/ a local archivist in the context of my seminar on Archival Activism. I also made additions to a shared spreadsheet re: a future issue on #FemDH. I’ll be ending this day w/ folx to virtually + remotely write some more on #AnticolonialDH.

This inaugural issue of ours for #ReviewsInDH is special! @danicasavonick.bsky.social and I welcome your engagement w/ featured works + editorial note, esp. as we think through new q’s + urgencies connected w/ social justice pedagogies in DH. 💜 to @roopikarisam.bsky.social for scaffolding + support!

Glad to be here, glad to extend support and keep the bookshop alive. Glad Day.

To my friend, N: the precious moments we shared and brought to life during our movement in and through Tkaronto at the start of this week remain memorable and meaningful to me. Thank you, N, for what you hold and help cultivate in people—abundance.

Lynn Conway was a legend. Her genius revolutionized the modern world. And for the trans community she represented something hugely important: a quiet, happy life. She wrote me exactly once but I’ll never forget the kind and encouraging person she was. news.engin.umich.edu/2024/06/the-...

Since our last physical w’shop at #DHSI19, Ashley + Arun + I have met online to cont teaching (e.g. #DHSI21, #DHSI22, #DHSI23) + conferencing + writing. There are worlds w/in worlds, and the materialities of these worlds within worlds can sometimes be a lot to make sense of all at once, especially when traveling from one location to another and keeping alive the memories, demands, and aspirations of all the implicated worlds. Hello, June!

"Embodiment suggested being moved w/in your body to study something, to be guided intrinsically to what needed attention but what the Co-lab has [shown] is that embodiment is not only rooted in the body and what you feel strongly about, it is rooted in being moved to create, act, and resist."—Ananya

The newest Felt Notes 💌 (monthly letters from the Just Futures Co-lab) are out! In this letter, I discuss our lab life in the context of graduating works, corresponding student reflections, and city-based project extensions. Here’s what we’ve been up more recently: buttondown.email/JustFuturesC...
