Over 70 medical associations representing nearly all physicians in the United States release a joint statement in support of the life-saving power of vaccines for respiratory viruses like influenza - no matter what Trump’s vaccine advisors may say. www.ama-assn.org/delivering-c...

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society has elected not to have our liaisons to ACIP participate in today's meeting. We believe the politicization of the committee renders it incapable of an independent, credible, data-driven process to review and recommend vaccines for the American public.

It’s apparent these ACIP members have never attended a previous ACIP meeting as the format and breadth of data presented by the CDC is exactly the same as provided at every single meeting I’ve watched since 2020.

Listening to the CDC scientists present real data to this ACIP committee feels subversive in a riveting way.

Why do these ACIP members all sound like they’re on trial? And they’ve never used zoom before? I mean, I know the answers. It’s just crazy.

CARTER: The Adolescent Trial Network for HIV intervention received a stop work order that shut down research at 14 sites where 7 studies were being conducted. Were you aware of that? RFK JR: As far as I know, we haven't cut any clinica-- CARTER: I'm telling you by your own records you are

Given the challenging last few months, this is a bright spot - the approval of lenacapavir twice yearly to prevent HIV. Unlike past PrEP meds, it was found t be 100% protective in cisgender women. But it will only work if gets to people, especially those communities that need it most.

There’s a risk that #LEN for #PrEP becomes another squandered opportunity. “But [we could] get this half right with #lenacapavir, & we build the platform to move to 1x yr lenacapavir + a monthly oral tablet by 2028 & we begin to see a decline in incidence. It’s a decision for the world to make."

BREAKING: The FDA has approved a twice-yearly injection that provided a near-perfect shield against H.I.V. infection in clinical trials. But the Trump administration has gutted the programs that might have paid for it in low-income countries (Gift article) www.nytimes.com/2025/06/18/h...

Powerful statement from the former members of the ACIP (CDC vaccine advisory group) jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Helen is a friend and colleague of mine and yes, I’m bragging - because she has done a very brave thing giving this interview about her position on the ACIP (now terminated). I encourage you to read it and learn about what ACIP members actually do. www.statnews.com/2025/06/10/c...

Secretary Kennedy’s allegations about the integrity of CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices are completely unfounded and will have a significant negative impact on Americans of all ages. Our statement: bit.ly/3SGaDcb

I’m excited for the ACIP to review this brand new way to prevent RSV in babies!! If they recommend it then insurance will cover it! I know they have been reviewing the data for weeks in working groups. What will they say?? If they do it soon, clinics can order it before the RSV season!

HIV vaccine researchers felt they were on the cusp of finally making significant progress in developing an effective vaccine, after nearly 40 years of trying and failing. Then came the Trump administration. www.npr.org/sections/goa...

From an accomplished physician & #HIV researcher who has provided care & produced practice-changing evidence since the beginning of the pandemic. Stephen Walsh and I representing Boston HIV vaccine research at the AIDS Walk today - I’m rocking my shirt from 1992! That’s how long I’ve been working to end the HIV epidemic and I’m never going to stop ❤️ (They call it Strides for Action but it will always be the AIDS Walk to me)

This is my life’s work so I’m biased - but I do think we should still invest in HIV vaccine research. True, it was probably time to reevaluate the amount of that investment, now that we also have long-acting PrEP. But under no circumstances should it be zero. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/h...

The US health agency says that mRNA is an untested technology. However, it should be noted that billions of mRNA doses have been administered globally with an exceptional safety profile.

All of NIH funding to Northwestern University is frozen. This pause includes noncompeting approved funding, new and competing grants with fundable scores. No reimbursements for money already spent have been received since March. This situation is rarely reported so please Please get the word out!

All Boston universities should act in solidarity to accept mass transfers of these students to protect their legal status, at no tuition, until the legal challenges play out. BU, Northeastern, MIT, Tufts, Brandeis and many more. We could absorb it collectively. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/u...

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will direct federal health agencies to explore potential new treatments for measles as the U.S. faces its largest outbreak in 25 years. Experts fear the decision could have grave consequences, as studies show the existing vaccine is 97% effective in preventing infection.
