I found the bass of my old 2018 MacBook Pro really poor, so I tried to boost it a bit. With just a few dB more, the speakers already struggled, and you can feel they suffer. So it's actually hopeless. The only thing you can do to improve the sound is to reduce the mids.

I did not imagine that, but my MacBook Pro Intel 2018 is still performant. Of course, I had some battery issues, but a reset of the firmware helped a lot. Now it's stable; I've got about 70-80% of the original battery capacity. I can use the latest macOS version without any issues.
