AC/DC filmed this 49 years ago today, on Monday, Feb. 23, 1976, with members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band. "It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)" was shot on Swanston Street in Melbourne, heading south toward St. Paul's Cathedral. The shoot cost $30. youtu.be/g-qkY2yj4_A?...

when that notion has just crossed your mind.

Want to make a cake but eggs are expensive or unavailable? Here's my grandmother's Depression-era recipe for an eggless cake. Yes, I've made it and it's good. I usually add a 1/2 cup of chopped pecans and cut the raisins back to 1/2 cup. That "GP" is my note for "Grandma Peebles."

Explaining to my birth family, which is used to annual visits, that the year when we don’t all see each other as a group has finally arrived, and kinda feeling like a heel.

Dear Manager: 1. I was a free man in Paris 2. I felt unfettered and alive 3. Nobody was calling me up for favors, and no one’s future to decide 4. I’d go back there tomorrow but for the work I’ve taken on 5. I deal in dreamers and telephone screamers; lately I wonder what I do it for

Once again I have done my bit to help the bloodless. If you can give 🩸, do consider it.

mentally appending “in bed” to this, as one would do to a fortune cookie 🥠

A post on my blog from November 2015 has been getting a steady and inexplicable uptick in visits in the past few days. This happens once in a while, and every time it does, I’m convinced I’m getting thoroughly dragged someplace on the interwebs. (No one ever leaves a comment, though.)

My wife is at @warren.senate.gov’s town hall in Framingham while I put away the groceries. Hey, one of us has to keep the tissues and peanut butter stocked.

This week’s random song that I sing quietly to myself while roaming the aisles at Shaw’s is … … “You Got The Silver.”

A fine obit (tx to @dmandl.bsky.social for amplifying it) that opens with a great anecdote about the small perceptions that shape big decisions.

Somebody probably mentioned this a couple days ago, but: February 19 marked the 40th anniversary of Mick Jagger’s first solo album. I would consider revisiting it if I thought there was much there to revisit. (Also: Damn, but he looks young, doesn’t he?)

my new secret agent name is Bambino Santana. Shhhhhh, don’t tell anybody.

I am afraid that every time I see this strip I think, “Chuck. Chuck. If you don’t wanna toss and turn all night, pull the blinds before you go to bed, Chuck.”

trawling Bandcamp, looking for just the right kind of basement madman/madwoman/madhuman. Haven't found him/her/they yet.
