Dang man. Every episode of Thrones Time (my old Game of Thrones podcast with buds from the now-defunct EntertainmentBuddha) was recorded on a Skype call.

Know what would be great for my grading that's also definitively great for students? Smaller class sizes. Current edtech is making it super obvious that it's not about having the money, but about where admins would rather spend that money

Really sucks that we didn't have cameras in the 1950s. Guess we'll have to AI slop it.

I laughed. A lot. This is great.

MTA offers free rides on trains, buses on Tuesday to mark Earth Day

Found out that one of my closest friends from high school passed away this morning. Alcohol is a horrible thing for entirely too many people.

I love professional wrestling and I love this.

This must be the Week of Irresponsible Dipshit Dog Owners. I’ve now had four dogs chase me and Samwise while we were on a walk in the last week. Keep your gates closed and your dogs leashed, ffs.

I used to post a lot about the movies I was watching on the other site but have since moved all of that over to @letterboxd.social It’s honestly my favorite social media app these days by a mile. Here’s my profile if anyone wants to follow along. boxd.it/4WF8X

This was super fun to read

Very proud to have Senator Van Hollen representing my state of Maryland in this fight against fascism.

Now we know who the inspiration for Voldemort was.

TW: cancer Quick update on progression: it’s been 10 months on alectinib and I saw some minor shrinking in my primary tumor (2.4cm down to 2.1cm). It’s not much, but after several months of no change, any shrinkage is good shrinkage! Effusions are both also now down to trace amounts.

Straight from the Nazi playbook, but updated for social media. Raul Hilberg noted the triangle of silence. This form of communication is meant to cause confusion. The result is the same: impotence to stop the destruction of the rule of law, rights, and ultimately, entire populations of humans.

This ad is absolute 🔥🔥🔥

I see we’re doing education policy exactly how Vince used to book Raw.

“By week one, I was already tired of his anti-rich, pro-Samaritan bullshit. I wanted to take a course in Christianity, not liberalism.”

I really love this @bwdr.bsky.social article on Superbad. www.brightwalldarkroom.com/2025/04/10/l...

The Blair Witch Project. Burkittsville is about 40 minutes from where I grew up.

You just know that beneath some of this Harvard nonsense, the golfer and his little henchman are just mad they didn’t go to Harvard.

It is really bothering me (understatement) that the message is “bring back that one innocent guy” and not “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK SHUT DOWN THIS WHOLE OPERATION IMMEDIATELY.”

#2 hit me differently just now. It’s not just “stay calm,” tho we should. It’s “I’m in the moment. What’s the best choice now?” You can feel urgency w/o soul-draining terror. And that realization is the root of resistance and change.

the reason is actually that their ideas are bad and they survive as public figures because they benefit from support provided by the American media’s endless supply of well-positioned dimwitted snobs

Ok this is hilarious.... But also so sad because of the power she holds... And still hilarious.

That’s a wrap on #4C25! I’m home, and absolutely exhausted, but my head and my heart are so full. This was one of the best experiences of my professional life so far, and I can’t wait to trade in my “first timer” ribbon for “presenter” next year in Cleveland.

I have been thoroughly enjoying my time at #4C25 - My first 4Cs ever! I am very scholar-pilled and am so very full of ideas and ready to get to work. But holy crap I wasn't ready for how exhausting this is! Currently hanging at home with my pup and resting up to make the most out of the last day.

Something I’ve been thinking about all day is how Emily Suh concluded her #TYCA talk yesterday: “They cannot fucking bury us. Somos semillas.”

I am very sad that I missed the Newcomers’ Think Tank today to start germinating ideas for next year. There is simply too much going on this week, y’all!

Coming back to this: was browsing the Utah State UP table at #4C25 and flipped through a few books on embodiment and found exactly what I’ve been looking for. Our Body of Work (Nicolas and Sicari, 2022) in particular. Ordered it and one other and cannot wait to dive in.

Going into the first day of #4C25 proper, I’m reminding myself that my not holding a PhD does not mean that I am not smart or that I don’t belong, that any graduate degree is a huge achievement, and that I have 15 years of doing this work under my belt and know what I’m talking about.
