#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 069 Yarrr! (PC) ⚓️ This be a wee action platformer, free on Itch.io, crafted by but one scallywag. Ye can conquer it in 30 minutes—rough ‘round the edges, aye, but not the worst treasure in the chest. Barely a game, but at least there be a pirate! ☠️🏴‍☠️

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 068 Magic Sword (SNES). I’ve had my SNES for 32 years—the longest of all my consoles—and I’m still discovering fun games. Magic Sword is simple, mindless, and a great palate cleanser. Sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. Check it out!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 067 Super Mario World (SNES). Launch title for the SNES and the first game I ever owned. Still my favorite 2d Mario. Another one I replay every year, of course with getting all 96 exits. It's a masterpiece in 2d platforming. Holds up really well too.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 066 Tiny Toons Adventures: Buster Busts Loose (SNES). Last year, put this in the "Up the Ante" square, and this year, I will put it in the "Bingo Beat" square. It's an excellent game. The graphics and music are incredible. I miss the Konami of old 😔.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 065 Kirby's Dreamland DX (GB). Color hack by GreenAndACat. My 8yo son chose this game to play for the "Press, Press, Pass" square. We beat the game together, passing the controller back and forth! He beat two bosses and is pretty proud about that 😀

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.064 Clayfighter (SNES). For the bingo, my third and final Visual Concepts game. I played the improved version last year, but not yet the original. It's basically the same game, but I did find this one to be easier. It's fine. Would have made a good rental.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 063 Weaponlord (SNES). Another Visual Concepts game. Incredible art direction, top-tier sprites and backgrounds, but the slow pace and tricky inputs didn’t really click for me. I would totally get if people got really into this one, though.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 062 McDonaldland (GB). Developed by Visual Concepts, this is basically a stripped down port of the NES game M.C. Kids. It's a short, basic platformer. The jumping is a little awkward, with very little music, but otherwise it's not too bad.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 061 Totally Spies! (GBA). I have to commend the devs for adding quite some variety to the game. Platforming, driving, flying, minigames, it's all here. It's very easy and clearly aimed at a younger audience, but it's pretty decent for what it is.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 060 Yo Noid (NES). A reskin of Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru that I beat last year. I still don't care much for the one hit deaths and the card minigames at the end of stages, but the platforming is not bad. Short and not too hard, so a nice one for the bingo.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.059 Actraiser 2 (SNES). Some of the best graphics on the SNES, but the difficulty is downright insane. Ghouls 'n Ghosts feels like Kirby’s Dreamland in comparison. Thankfully, the bingo board has a Game Genie square, otherwise, I’d never see past level 1.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.058 Saiyuuki World 2: Tenjoukai no Majin (FC). Also known as Whomp 'em. As @travplaysgames.bsky.social said in his video, this game is pretty good. The graphics are great and it plays well. Final stage is a little too tough. m.youtube.com/watch?v=CKho...

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.057 Darkwing Duck (TG16). The AVGN wasn't kidding when he reviewed this. What an atrocious game! The hit detection is non-existant,the jumping is terrible, the music is bland, and the level design is awful. Unless playing for bingo, avoid this pile of trash!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.056 Batography (PC). A 15-minute atmospheric game that is free on Itch.io? Sign me right up! This one reminded me of Toem, which is also excellent. The art style is really good. I hope the dev will revisit it one day and make a longer experience out of it.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.055 Kendo Rage (SNES). This action platformer is pretty humorous, and the character and boss designs are rather good. The level design is pretty bland, though. The video @snesdrunk.bsky.social did (m.youtube.com/watch?v=5cKw...) mirror my thoughts exactly.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 054 Ducktales (NES). My favorite game on the NES that I replay every year. As it was released in 1989, this seemed like a good opportunity to play it for the time travel bingo square. The gameplay, music and graphics are all top notch. A fantastic game.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 053 Advance Wars (GBA). I played this two years ago but never finished it. For the bingo, I booted up my old save file to finish the job. I only had 3 stages left, but man, were they tough! I'm glad to have finally beaten it. It's a really good game!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 052 A Short Hike (NSW). I love this game. I beat it two years ago, and for the bingo (rock climbing) I decided to replay it. A very cozy experience, with fun exploring, with a sweet ending. Absolutely recommended! Also: Bingo no.3 done (DrunkFriend board)

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 051 Castlevania Legends (GB). I enjoyed this game a lot. It's much easier than the other titles, got nice-looking graphics, and the music is good. A nice one for the bingo square. Speaking of which: with this beat, I got a bingo on the IndieQuest Board!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.050 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game (NES). Like @topspot123.bsky.social said, this is a pretty impressive port as the graphics and gameplay speed are really good. The game is tough, though, and I don't like how the enemies gang up on you.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 049 Top Hunter Roddy & Cathy (NSW via Hamster). Looks amazing and plays great: yes, please! Two hit kills, gazillion hits for bosses, insane difficulty overall: No, thanks! More importantly, with this beat, I get my first Bingo! (On the Polykill Board) 😀

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 048 Pocket Bowling (GBC). You have to be pixel perfect to get a strike, but once you figure it out, you'll get one every time. Mechanically pretty solid, but otherwise low on content. Though, for the 0,5 hour or so it lasts, I did enjoy it.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.047 Joe & Mac 2:Lost in the Tropics (SNES). I liked this one more than part 1. It's still hard, but it's shorter and has much more health restoratives (meat!) lying around. As such, It's much easier. It plays well and looks nice and colorful. Check it out!

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No.046 Donkey Kong Country 2-Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES). While an amazing game (with a fantastic OST and level design) out of the 3, it's my least favorite. The levels are often too long, and though I can now breeze through it, too hard, especially to 100% it.

#JustBeatIt @polykillpodcast.bsky.social No. 045 Snail Bob 2 (PC). Released in 2015, in this free puzzle game, you guide Bob through various levels, making sure he survives by clicking on items in the right order. Ok, so it's very short and very easy, but you can't deny the game's charm. It's fun!
