Things you need to stop asking adoptees, surrogacy concieved and donor concieved people: Would you rather have grown up poor in an orphanage? Would you rather not have been born? Did you not have a nice upbringing? But what should people do if they can't have children? 🥚

As a transracial adoptee raised by white jesus people in white jesuslandia, I have an answer to each of these questions. Those who favor adoption seldom like what I have to say. 🥚

STAND and DEMAND the immediate return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. BRING HIM HOME! Abrego Garcia is a SMART Local 100 first-year apprentice who was working full-time to support his young family — before he was brutally abducted and illegally deported to El Salvador. SMART General President…

So the immigrants who were given 7 days to leave the country? Many are my English students. Some work overnight and come to class the next morning. Others work in restaurant kitchens or as hotel cleaners. They work. They come to class. They follow the rules. And now we kick them out. #cruel

i do not think the mainstream press is equipped or capable of covering ideological white nationalists and eugenicists as such, or even capable of noting that this is what they are. it is related to the wide belief that racism is simply a matter of manners.

I know a good place to start.

😂

On a recent flight my seatmates learned I was a writer and asked my opinion on AI. They didn't understand genAI is based on work stolen from authors, and they DEFINITELY didn't know about the energy costs. Both shocked them. People just don't know.

Hernandez: Why is there always money to bomb children in Gaza, but not enough to make sure every kid has a safe place to sleep in this country. We don't have a budget crisis. We have a crisis of our values

Honestly the fact that neither Shapiro or Hagen mention eugenics in this is downright shameful. These people are eugenicists! You have multiple clips in here of them going over Eugenics 101!

This is bullshit—of course the US could apply diplomatic pressure to have him returned—but if it is allowed to stand, the executive branch has the power to disappear people permanently without any sort of due process. That in turn will be the end of all other constitutionally guaranteed rights.

AKA: If you're a kid with #cancer, it's highly possible you'll die from an infectious disease but we don't care about your health especially since it's your fault you got cancer because you didn't eat enough oranges or take fish oil or use moisturizer. -An angry mom of a #childhoodcancer survivor

Still true today. #familyseparation #familypolicing #adoption #immigrants #humanrights

My Op Ed in the Arizona Daily Star ran yesterday... dispelling some myths about copper mining in the State of Arizona. It's short and sweet. tucson.com/opinion/colu...

Okay #adoptee community 🥚🥚 I’m writing a piece about how Severance mirrors adoption (of course). This feeling just grew and grew throughout their two seasons if you have any thoughts on this, please contact me! I will give you attribution.

On April 10, 1925, a young writer published his 3rd novel – a commercial & critical disappointment about a man passing for white 100 years later, Pulitzer Prize-winner Wesley Lowery reveals the secret hidden inside a piece of America's literary canon... And how "The Great Gatsby" became white

But of course 🤬🥚

Can you imagine not knowing your own identity? Check out the trailer for Suzanne Bachner’s award-winning play, THE GOOD ADOPTEE starring Anna Bridgforth & dramaturged by Bob Brader. “A powerful story the entire world needs to see.” - Suz Bednarz, birthmother. Streaming & Booking Now. Link in bio. 🩷

“Since you cannot see into the future, you simply proceed to put one stone on top of another, and another on top of that. If the stones get knocked down, you begin again, because if you don’t nothing will get built.” - Mary-Wynne Ashford

Cool. Can other defendants use this reasoning, too?

OMG! I'm dying!

This precisely what we mean when we say dismantling the public health infrastructure will lead to people dying. If you cannot respond to outbreaks or health crises, they become prolonged as do the direct consequences. These include worse health and death regardless of how you voted.

Innocent Black Americans are nearly eight times more likely to be convicted of murder than innocent white people and, across all crime categories, spend a much longer time unjustly incarcerated.

What organization do you give to monthly? I'll start. I donate to @partnersinhealth.bsky.social www.pih.org/injusticehas...

So we're going to spend money & time researching & advocating for better care for kids with measles (a preventable disease) instead of continuing to fund research for kids with cancer (unpreventable diseases of which many are incurable or rely on dated treatments that cause life-long harm). Got it.

I'm sorry, but I love this.

Looking forward to sharing Grace Lee Boggs: Gardens of Hope with local young readers! ❤️📚🌱 Sat. April 12th, 10:00 am, Two Friends Books Bentonville. @albertwhitman.bsky.social @picturebookgold.bsky.social #k12 #WomensHistoryMonth #bio #nonfiction #PB #kidlit #socialjustice #AAPI #women #aapibooks

Now THIS is a fantastic idea!

THE BLACK MAMBAS: THE WORLD’S FIRST ALL-WOMAN ANTI-POACHING UNIT by @kellycrull.bsky.social is engaging, powerful, and inspiring. The incredible photography, passionate text, and interactive elements made me eager to turn each page. And some spreads made me tear up! #kidlit

Here's something you can do right now. Let's all become members of the National Museum of African American History and Culture! support.si.edu/site/Donatio...

Absolutely this.

Vandalize a library? Take over a campus? Do all kinds of crazy things?

I'm feeling snarky today y'all!

By all means, yes, keep pouring money and time into this and don't worry at all about the lack of funding for research into childhood cancers or any other adverse childhood illnesses that are incurable and/or greatly impact the life expectancy of survivors. March on!

Phx will see triple digits this week. HHS cut the entire staff of the LIHEAP program-it helps low income communities with weatherization and utility fees. One less tool for AZ to help our citizens during heat season. www.usatoday.com/story/money/...

What?!?!?

It’s not a coincidence that the same Americans who want to restore what’s history do not want Americans to learn about what’s history.

So we're going to spend money & time researching & advocating for better care for kids with measles (a preventable disease) instead of continuing to fund research for kids with cancer (unpreventable diseases of which many are incurable or rely on dated treatments that cause life-long harm). Imagine trying to deport someone for their "expected beliefs"

Dear state legislators: please change your laws so that adoptees can easily request a certified copy of their own state-issued adoption decree. It's insane that it takes a formal court petition to get a critical document--particularly to secure US citizenship. I'm tired of it.
