I'm happy to announce that the transition of all of Bluesky to a single raspberry pi near a pile of sodas has been successful

You're welcome

The junker computer at the front desk is faster than everything in this picture

I was staying at a friend’s house in Austin, Texas. She was working on a startup and her user experience designer kept getting into the detail about how the user interface *looked*.

Running on a frozen lake

It's interesting to think of the CO2 cost (assuming conventional electricity sources?) to train GPT4 as "200 flights from New York to San Francisco", which happens every 2 days. andymasley.substack.com/p/individual...

If I made my own branded tub of energy drink powder that vaguely tasted like a Blue Hawaiian and had California cancer warnings on the label, would you buy it? Asking for a friend

I was walking on a frozen lake just before midnight. This was before phones, so I had to look back at the lights onshore to see if the world ended.

CF uses AI to "detect AI*", but they call it "machine learning" so people uninformed about AI will think they're not using AI to be anti-AI. Great example of why we should be calling all of this stuff Machine Learning and not AI. *This is almost certainly generating (millions of?) false positives

I see a lot of "AI blocker lists" adding Applebot, but Apple uses that for everything (ex: previews of sites), then looks at Applebot-Extended in the robots.txt to decide AI permissions. Great way to get your site blocked from a search engine if Apple is forced to run their own post Google breakup.

Surprised to learn there's actually been some work on AI-specific changes to robots.txt spec www.ietf.org/archive/id/d...

OSS dev protip: give your next released library an intensely offensive and/or sexual name and you won't have to do perpetual free maintenance for corporate developers. I would use a robots.txt generator named BezosAndZuckGivingEachotherHandjobs, but Amazon won't!

Mike Judge predicted the future way more accurately with Idiocracy, so I don't want to hear any smack talk about Beavis and Butthead

When someone asks how to find you online and you give them a twitter profile instead of your home page
