I’ve been trying to reduce the number of coats I have. The British climate makes this difficult. I’ve got it down to ten: light rain coat. Torrential rain coat. Windy but not wet coat. Windy & wet coat. Swanky showing off designer coat. Floor length black cashmere vampire coat. OMG it’s -15 C coat

I'm planning to take early retirement and the first day of freedom will be...Friday 13 June. Yes! I chose that date deliberately as a BTS fan. The boys' countdown to finishing military service feels like my own marking the days until I can quietly close the door on a long and often hard career.
