And here is podcast number two! I was invited back onto Talking Tudors by the wonderful @onthetudortrail.bsky.social, a privilege I was honoured to have. This time round, we’re discussing Robert and Elizabeth post-1560, focusing on their later years. An era that I think deserves more attention.

Today in #TudorHistory, 10 February 1542 Katherine Howard, Henry’s 5th wife, was taken to the Tower of London by barge. Henry had received evidence that his wife wasn’t quite as pure as he had believed before he met her. She had dark secrets hiding in her past. #TudorDynasty #History #Anglophile

Poor Catherine Howard I didn't remember that this was the week she was imprisoned and executed. Or that Henry Darnley was murdered on the same day she was sent to the Tower.

This exquisite gold ring was found by a metal detectorist in Bedfordshire. Dating from the 1570s, it is engraved with a phoenix - one of the emblems used by Elizabeth I and her courtiers to honour her mother Anne Boleyn #elizabethi #anneboleyn

I once heard a lovely quote stating that the Mother is the heart of the family. I think this applies nicely to Queen Elizabeth of York.

Are there any History teachers out there? Or Historians that have Education degrees? I am getting a Master's in Education I just started my Student Teaching. I plan on earning an endorsement to teach History in April. Are there any History teachers who could possibly give me some advice?

Had a wonderful first day student teaching. I love being with the kids and my mentor teacher is great. I have a feeling that the worst part of this experience will be the paperwork and all the homework assignments I have to complete. Reading Tudor history will be a welcome relief in the meantime.

Starting Student Teaching tomorrow morning. I'm excited and feel more confident about it than I originally thought I would be. Going to have to remember to keep my spirits up when things get hard. Looking forward to sharing my love of History with my students.

Share it!

Happy New Year 2025 everyone! I am excited for the New Year as I will be starting student teaching and completing my Master's Degree in Education. I've been going to grad school for two years and should be finishing up in April. After that I will get an endorsement to teach history. Hurray!

Interesting I believe she was Lettice Knollys' daughter. Like mother like daughter perhaps?

Ever find yourself at home, hungry, & wishing for an eel delivery service? Well you're not alone! In the 1580s Queen Elizabeth had cartloads of eels & pike delivered weekly to her castle at Hertford from Cambridge by a man named William Raven. Why eel out when you can order in? 🗃️🧪
