This is a moral moment. It is not left or right, it is right or wrong.

How am I coping with everything? Well, I read 12 books adding up to 4,293 pages in March.

Here's the thing: I'm just a teacher, and I am more careful with my students' confidential information (eg making sure to bcc and also that only the correct people are on email chains) than the LITERAL NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR with LITERAL BATTLE PLANS.

I do not care if every single person disappeared to El Salvador is a hardened criminal. There is no justification in the world you can make for this. A regime with clear contempt for laws of God and humanity forfeits its legitimate claim to power.

I just keep thinking about MLK's definition of an unjust law as something that a majority in number or power binds a minority to follow, but does not follow itself.

Breaking: everything

people say The Great Gatsby is “no longer relevant,” but careless people have never been more brazen, or more prominent.

Mood:

Madeleine L'Engle; this is why they want you illiterate

Absolutely. See also reading, baking, and puzzles.

Shit, shit, shit.

If you are in one of these places, use your voice while you still can to urge your senators to hold the line!

Senate Dems, repeat after me: "We will not vote for cloture until the Trump administration obeys court orders. We cannot fund a lawless government."

"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” Man if only this quote had contemporary relevance!

The fact that the people who did Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Guantanamo got away with it is part of how we got here

Is anti DEI the new HUAC?
