For the people who may be on the fence: Happy to chat about my experience leading KY. Core leadership created a checklist of what to do, which helps keep priorities organized. A lot of us here already are kind and down to help you make it happen. #StandUpForScience

Also accessibility matters! Make sure EVERYONE can access the info they need is more important than ever before!

Just had an excellent interview with @advocate.com, and I really think this one is worth your time to read.

Since I’ve been getting this a lot - if you feel like supporting me by buying a jersey or something, I would rather you make a donation to Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project www.thetrevorproject.org

It's pretty cool that Eater put together resources for restaurants about how to handle ICE raids

Some good news for your Friday!

Some beauty for your timeline this morning

I do not believe in any tech product where the devs want us to view it with some form of religious awe, a divine gift redefining human experience and bequeathing knowledge unto us humble land apes. I believe in a tech product where the devs are like “this is handy for planning breakfasts”

I know lots of protests are happening in the USA tomorrow & I hope everyone gets to the protests safe, stays safe while there & goes home feeling empowered PS wear a mask!! The flu is SO bad right now and that's not even considering all the other viruses floating around

This is the clearest photo ever taken of Venus. 🔭 🧪

Most people in the US have no idea about the attacks on federally funded science or our government institutions. Many (or most!) of your family, coworkers, neighbors, and friends have no idea. My own MAGA dad thinks DOGE is just identifying waste, and that nothing has been cut. We have to tell them.

Hey, the truest and most useful saying ever coined about politics has been brought over to Bluesky by the original coiner!

My desire to please is greater than my desire to pick a restaurant

Just going to continue to uplift ways that people can take action and block people in my mentions who bust in like the Koolaid person to say that x, y, z 'won't work.' I want to hear what YOU are doing. If you want to share that, I'm here for it. Everything else is just noise.

One for the #SciArt family, perhaps. igg.me/at/exterra3

I wasn’t staring at you, I was dissociating in your direction.

When the picture *technically* goes with the headline, but there's something extra that the text doesn't really cover.

Everything is terrible and I hate it. We must make it better. Anyway, one thing we all can do, is practice kindness. This is especially critical in a world where 'the cruelty is the point' from those with power. I do not mean being kind to Nazis, those who wish to harm you, etc. Each other. 💕

Hard yes and also why we need more creatively trained ASL interpreters because it’s now obvious that it’s more than just an accessibility box to check off, it’s art all on its own. I could watch that ASL performance and FEEL the music, not just read/parse the lyrics.

Accessibility is really cool, if you let it be.

Trump's flurry of anti-trans executive orders is justified as "protecting women." In reality, they are an attack on all women and girls, cis and trans. They make sexual abuse easier. And they're targeting research into women's health care for defunding. www.salon.com/2025/02/10/w...

If you have the capacity, it is time to start organizing and get out in the streets with a bunch of people, loudly, if at all possible. Make signs. Find an Indivisible. Get some friends to come with you. Don't worry about doing it perfectly. Just do it. It's that time.

Today, we at Google have a new product: what if you could could ask an app a question? Oh, we do that already? Well, what if we were a little bit worse at it? What if we also sometimes gave you egregiously wrong information? And what if it cost a billion dollars? Still not interested? It's mandatory

GOOD THINGS CAN STILL HAPPEN

Three question game for fun and hope. Rules: answer in any medium you want. No arguing with other people's answers. How do you imagine a utopian future? How do you imagine a transitional period in this decade? How do you imagine a good space to carve out or good community in the immediate future?

Hey, Microsoft Office users: you may know this already, but MS is pushing out AI in all its Office/365 subs, and quietly raising the price to do so. Log into your account, and Cancel your sub, and built into the process after you click Cancel is option to switch to AI-free version. Please share.

This is I think a very important distinction between Korean protest and US protests. Not every Korean could go sit out in the cold. Only a fraction actually did. But the community as a whole supported those who went. They bought the coffee and heat packs and arranged practical support.

Call your Republican reps about this shit. If you have a regional accent, make the most of it. Tell them you didn't vote to screwed over like this, and you're gonna hold them accountable for it if they don't fix it. reps.fyi

"We do have power. We have our bodies, our capacity to literally occupy our homes, to refuse to leave, and to refuse how our landlords and how our politicians believe that our homes and our cities should be managed."
