New @resfoundation.bsky.social report out from me today, on how low-to-middle income households’ earnings, benefits, taxes and housing costs have changed over the last 30 years. Here are some of the key findings:

Fascinating report out today from @nyecominetti.bsky.social and @louisemurphy.bsky.social on low-to-middle income families' experience of work - many more people in these families are employed than they were in the 90s, but there's still big improvements to be made to their experience of work.

As well as tracking average household income, the Government must make sure that poorer households in particular see living standards growth. Our latest projections (pre-Budget) were not good, but Government policy can make a big, direct difference here.

Big news that the Scottish Government has decided to abolish the two-child limit on benefit support from 2026 onwards. As RF has shown many times, this is the biggest lever policymakers could pull to reduce child poverty with immediate effect. www.resolutionfoundation.org/publications...

Disappointing inflation data this morning: CPI was 2.3% in October, up from 1.7% in September - a bigger increase than either the BoE or markets had expected. This came with news that underlying inflation also ticked up. Short thread to follow...
