If you’re a teacher, drop your $ app(s) and wishlists; if you’re everyone else, pick a teacher and throw some dollars

Andre Leon Talley was born in Washington, D.C, but he was raised in North Carolina. He attended and graduated from North Carolina Central University.

When things get overwhelming, I focus my mind on the things and people I love.

Readers, gamers, People that have weathered some storms, educators, kind hearted, open to network, career driven, people that have their own, people that are improving their life.... These are my people. These are who I can relate to. This is who I wanna connect with.

This is a really fun channel, in addition to this there's also a whole episode of extremely messy early 20th century Talented Tenth marriages. Yes including Countee's.

I often use music to communicate how I feel.

Anything by Mariah Carey.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing to the Met Gala.

Reading always felt like I was transported to a safe space.

In honor of #NationalBlackAuthorsDay, here are the #Books that have influenced me most 📚🧵 #BlackBooksky #DiverseBooksky #Reader

It’s National Black Author’s Day and I’m so blessed to be doing this for four years and counting! I write ✍️ books set in the South that look like me and talk like me and give kids a glimpse of hoodoo, magic and possibility. #booksky #blackbooksky linktr.ee/srmilesauthor

Looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing for the Met Gala.

I have never seen this video of Ashford Simpson, Whitney Houston, and Al Jarreau. There is so much talent on one stage.

If youre already familiar w Saul Williams, his role in Sinners is relatively muted compared to how fiery he can be as a performer. That's the only way I can explain how so many ppl MORE familiar with him than me didn't notice.

One of the books I purchased this week came yesterday. I finally purchased Audre Lorde's The Cancer Journals #blackbooksky

HAPPY National Black Authors Day! Big shoutout to all the authors who bet on themselves, took a chance, and released their art into the world! 🫶🏽 #blackbooksky #blackauthors

Happy Not Like Us Day to all who celebrate.

Today is #NationalBlackAuthorsDay. Support your favorite authors by buying/ reading their books.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but The Wiz is going to be re-released in theaters May 18.

One of the greatest songs she written.

I love people who actually listen AND understand music. ugh, having a music lover for a friend is unmatched 🥰

Ryan Coogler's “Sinners” is a supernatural celebration of Black history, music, culture all taking place in Smoke and Stack's juke joint. But did you know “juke” comes from the Gullah word “jug” or “juk” meaning rowdy or disorderly? #Sinners #Gullah #Geechee # BlackHistory

I remember my parents and grandparents would make us turn off the lights when it stormed. They would also make us be quiet. I hated it😂

It's dark and stormy today.

Nick Ashford was born May 4, 1941, in Farfield , South Carolina. Ashford was singer, songwriter, and producer. He and his wife Valeria Simpson wrote numerous hit songs such as "Ain't No Moutain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand."

It felt good to go outside. It was breezy and beautiful out.

I am looking forward to seeing how Watson ends!

That man is a vampire or found the fountain of youth.

Turn around, don't drown!

Communion by bell hooks is a thought-provoking book. Hooks focuses not just on romantic, community love, friendship, and self-love. One quote summarizes her book's key points: "Love is a combination of care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect, and trust.”

One day we’ll talk about how a lot of women are secretly (it’s not a secret anymore) homophobic & it shows in how quickly they are to call men gay over very minuscule things.

"Stand" is a one of a kind album.
