Schools have sometimes historically become the institutions recognised by some families that only get in touch at point of crisis; these positive communication tools enale us to rewrite the narrative

@samgibbs.bsky.social I really enjoyed this article, it would be good to see / discuss a concrete example if at all possible

A superbly, clear, analytical, and characteristically constructive submission to the #CurriculumandAssessment review from m'colls @ascl-uk.bsky.social. A particular hat-tip to @tommiddlehurst.bsky.social. We really have to do something about #TheForgottenThird: www.ascl.org.uk/News/Our-new...

@furtheredagogy.bsky.social Hey Dan, hope you’re well. Have you come across technical definitions for ‘immersive learning technologies’ and every derivative of, and empirical evidence to support the money being pumped into it??

conversation breathes life into a next step when we spend time thinking deeply about what it will look like and how circumstance might shape it. Videos can exemplify the next step or demonstrate the gap between the current reality and the desired state

Invite input at every phase of conversation. When praising effective practice, we can ask how or why teacher implemented said behaviour…we can ask if this chimes with a teacher’s experience…we can invite the teacher to say whether and how they think the next step will solve problem defined together

Rather than seeing certain behaviours or strategies as inherently good, we should consider what problems they solve. To be able to do this, we need to spend time in the lesson and in conversation pondering the biggest barriers to learning the teacher and the class face

A coach’s notes should be full of teacher actions and phrases as well as student responses, including things they’ve said and work they’ve produced. Pictures, audio and video all help to capture something here

Before we consider strategies, we should make sure we have a full and rich understanding of the lesson. We might view a model as unclear; go and read the paragraphs produced in response. We might hear instructions and feel confused about what students should do; ask students if they understand…

On my way to first ResearchED conference in a few years cos of the kiddos. In comparison, not that far to travel, but in solidarity with those travelling long distances trains aren’t running so bus + tube adventure has started #rED24 #excited

Great tips for new / all #furthereducation #FE teachers
