The stat that 73% of Americans were doing well is what blinded the Democratic Party (among other more deeply rooted factors). But in that study they lumped in those who said they were “doing ok” with those who said they were “doing well” and “thriving”.

It’s strange to realize that to be properly informed one has to read a paper, then check the citation to make sure that 1. The author properly understood the citation 2. The citation is actually correct in its own right. These are lengths that I don’t think people would be willing to go to.
