In honour of Joy Division's iconic album Unknown Pleasures being released on this day in 1979, I'm again sharing one of my favourite ever video clips (Peanuts vs Joy Division dance party)...

one disgusting thing fox news does constantly is lead jihads to try to get other journalists fired, like they're currently doing to Kimes. Story after story until they draw blood. If you work for Fox or defend them, you are a traitor to your fellow journalists.

i am running for office on a platform of nationalizing chick-fil-a and giving popeye's a modified liquor license that allows them to sell go cups. a better world is possible

if you talk to gus 15x times on a rainy fall night in stardew valley he will offer to sell you a glock pistol for 5000 gold

Thousands of Christians are being rounded up and deported by the U.S. government, but they’re not cottagecore tradmoms or their homeschooled goat milk enthusiasts, so these guys are fine with it. Actually, they’re thrilled.

Don’t panic over coloured smoke grenades. The smoke is irritating but fundamentally less trouble than tear gas.

"No Cuomo" is succinct enough but (possibly inadvertently) very funny

It’s a shame the Don’t Tread On Me flag was appropriated by the pro treading on me community because it’s a pretty badass flag and I am tired of being tread upon.

Thank you to my son and his day care for this terrifying Father’s Day gift.

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

Australian deported from US says he was ‘targeted’ due to writing on pro-Palestine student protests

I don't know if this needs to be said or not but "elected official assassinated in their home" is simply not a thing that happens in this country. 1825, 1889, 1893, 1973. Those are all the ones I can find, ever, before today.

I get that you don’t want to be wrong and in the moment it’s hard to count, but tens of thousands was trivially correct, hundreds of thousands would’ve been a well supported estimate, and millions turns out to be correct. Undercounting is just as incorrect as overcounting.

It's a miracle no one was killed. www.thedailybeast.com/gunman-opens...

Northern Virginia says “No Kings.”

These injuries were not inflicted by ICE or federalized guardsmen or imaginary agitators. They were inflicted by LAPD and LASD, under the direction of a supposedly democratic mayor, against people who came out to protest peacefully against fascism and racist kidnappings of our neighbors.

Happy 10th birthday to this terrible thing x

ok cool we have checkpoints now

But the most important thing to remember today is that protestors must remain peaceful, passive, and chaste. Or else it might look bad on breitbart.

Why protest on Saturday? www.headsupnews.org/p/no-kings-p...

"Even if it went to the point of setting a car on fire, that's not a domestic insurrection. That's a protest that is engaged in some illegality. And we have civil means to punish it without the armed forces.”

A friend just texted me from LA that this was happening at the park she was at

‘It was very shocking’: Deportation of classmate spurs student walkout at Montgomery Blair HS

Cool Dog

I'm pouring over the details of the reconciliation bill and its potentially apocalyptic effects on higher education for a short piece - it really is a five alarm fire. They're going to overhaul the student loan infrastructure as a means of anti-intellectual, resegregationist social engineering.

A man with a green card said ICE agents arrested him in #Lynn, Mass then took him to a detention facility—but first made a detour to a cemetery, where they took him out of their vehicle and beat him. #mapoli #Massachusetts

If/when you see police violence this weekend being used against peaceful protesters, take a beat and think about the restraint used by officers on Jan. 6. How they defended the entire US Capitol during an insurrection. And didn't irrevocably brutalize people actively attacking them. Just a thought.

From yesterday, Wayne Ivey, Brevard County sheriff speaking on what police will do to those they deem violent at protests: "We will kill you graveyard dead"

Tragically, the outrageous assault of Sen. Padilla today is becoming normal behavior for a Trump administration which is moving us toward authoritarianism. The American people do not like petty tyrants. We defeated King George in 1776. We will defeat King Donald.

Correct.

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

Again, stunts are good. They are part of politics. They shape public opinion & the National Conversation™️ Bringing impeachment articles when you don't control either chamber of Congress & know you'll lose is a stunt. The point is not to win. It's to make the other side <react> & set The Narrative™️

"Earlier this week Donald Trump called for a second civil war at a US military base. This scenario can be resisted and prevented, if we have the courage to listen, interpret, and act. And this Saturday we will have the occasion to act." snyder.substack.com/p/trumps-civ...

today was a lot

ok there are too many wegmans, when do they fall off or get bought by PE

“Nobody recognized the Senator from the largest state in the nation” says either they’re idiots or they think we are.

Are we really fucking doing this. Had nothing happened to Senator Padilla at all, what she was describing is a federal takeover of a major city by military force with no specified end-date, with no legal authority. Do not let the fascists talk their way out of that.

@markwarner.bsky.social

They are extremely clear about the fact that they consider themselves to be at war with you. They do not equivocate about it. It's their stated policy.
