To answer the question... The same reason energy companies, transportation companies, mass manufacturing companies, any company that changed the way we live didn't run the world when they were ascendant. They serve us, not control us. We run ourselves. Representative democracy is how we do it.

Once in a while this MAGA guy who snuck in the door here puts juvenile, mean spirited comments on my posts. I played with him the first couple of times. He did it again yesterday and I blocked him. No emotion, just block. Let the other guys carry the heavy burdens. We've got important stuff to do!

The more I look around at what people are posting, it seems like the thing that might pierce the MAGA armor is asking them to document the waste and fraud DOGE is uncovering. They're likely to respond with deflections. Hold them to the receipts. What, when, how much? Don't let them off the hook.

I'm equally but in opposite directions blown away by the number of people on Meta that are rationalizing the obvious Nazi gesture by Bannon, and the number of people who are cleared eyed and refusing to give in to the gaslighting. It's showing me who to trust and who not to turn my back on.

When people are in danger, you don't let them sit there in fear. You give them info. You give them something to do. You make them feel like agents, not victims. So if there's a plan for combatting bird flu or high grocery prices, you don't say, "there's a plan, but we won't tell you what it is."
