Just read this graf. Share it with people you know who don’t pay attention to politics or news.

"Trump has just presided over one of the greatest diplomatic disasters in modern history," writes the Guardian's Washington DC bureau chief David Smith.

"When billionaires take control of our communication channels, it’s not a win for free speech. It’s a win for their billionaire babble," writes former US secretary of labor Robert Reich. "When they speak of 'freedom', what they actually seek is freedom from accountability."

Donald Trump is embarrassing the United States on the world stage. We are a country that stands up to dictators and fights for democracy. Minnesota stands firmly with our allies in Ukraine.

Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine.

Trump is Putin’s bitch. Always has been. Always will be. Be ashamed, America.

HOLY SHIT HE'S GOT PAGES! 980 OF THEM! THIS IS NOT A TEST! ROBERT CARO HAS GOT PAGES!

I'm genuinely disheartened by the lack of reviews/coverage for "Eyes on the Prize III," which premieres on HBO tonight. Sigh. This is, I guess, a "me" problem. But nothing you could watch this week is better. Anyway... ICYMI, my review:

Trump and Musk are murderers.

People are having predictable reactions to this piece, which I get, but I actually do think we need to have a collective discussion about epistemic ethics, as it were. She didn't know. *Should* she have known? Who is responsible for her not knowing? Did she fail or was she failed, or both?

One thing that popped out of YouGov polling this week: The idea of Musk making money off his access is VERY unpopular.

@studentsdemand.bsky.social and @momsdemand.bsky.social are at the Texas Capitol advocating for the safe future we all deserve. Everything’s bigger in Texas—including our advocacy for gun violence prevention! #MomsAreEverywhere #txlege

It was great to meet @ferrellzabala.bsky.social and activists from @momsdemand.bsky.social at the Capitol today. We need common sense solutions to gun violence: secure storage laws, red flag laws, and raising the age to 21 to purchase a semiautomatic rifle. #txlege

Congrats @meidastouch.com !!! www.newsweek.com/meidas-touch...

Paradoxically, we have an extraordinary opportunity right now to show not tell that government - and by that I mean the actual people who watch over our roads/airports/food/water/air/products/public health etc - is essential to our lives. The regime is not "the government."

George Lakoff, 2004

Elon musk is an enemy of the people.

I’m glad that the Texas Senate voted for teacher pay raises. There is still more work to be done. Our educators deserve better, but Greg Abbott held their salaries hostage for his voucher scheme. #txlege

This photo says 1000 words. Musk, standing, the center of all eyes. Trump possibly asleep.

I am checking out alternatives to WaPo and finding @nbcnews.com to be doing some solid reporting, e.g., fact-checking and calling out RFK Jr. on his inaccurate claims.

Elon musk is the richest man in the world, he could be funding hospitals, medical research and universities. He could be solving the climate crisis. He could be feeding, hungry children. Instead, he’s trying to make sure that your grandmother doesn’t get an extra dollar of Social Security.

@smugchristophe.bsky.social wrote this over on Threads 🧵, but it should be on Bluesky too. It’s a spot on read on Texas.

"The freedom of citizens to criticize their government without fear of reprisal — including anonymously — is an elemental First Amendment freedom, which is exactly why the President is threatening to go after it," said PEN America’s @jonfreadom.bsky.social. pen.org/press-releas...

Jarvis: You're not going to like what I'm saying next, but we are in the middle of a totalitarian fascist coup in this country.

I've known @jeffjarvis.bsky.social for almost 25 years and the reason I've always respected him is that it is a genuine risk to his career and status for him to plainly say the truth on this kind of platform. And it has impact that he does so.

I think this is worth watching www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8Wz...

This is a time for choosing by all lawyers. We must decide whether to stand up against fascism or to oppose it. S&C's leaders made the wrong choice (as I discussed below); Covington has made the right choice (and deserves strong support for doing so).

BREAKING—RFK Jr’s FDA suddenly cancels meeting to update next season’s flu vaccines, with zero explanations. Any delays will jeopardize next year’s vaccine supply chain. God help us all.

Welcomed 20+ members from the @txsolarstorage.bsky.social to kick off Solar & Storage Day at the Capitol! We had a productive discussion on my legislative priorities and the serious, ongoing work to strengthen Texas' energy future. #TXLege #SD16

if you work at wapo and want to chat, signal's in my bio. meanwhile, a reminder from @jasonkoebler.bsky.social a few months ago: www.404media.co/the-billiona...

I've been screaming this for years.

Bernie on the Republican budget: “Robin Hood in Reverse.”

Even the people working at DOGE say it is a lawless nightmare for America. In fact, they know it better than anyone. Thanks to these true public servants who won’t stand for such a dangerous betrayal of the American people.

Warren: "Our best strategy is to make sure everybody knows exactly what the Republicans are trying to do, and that is they want to give literally trillions of dollars in tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires, and they want to pay for it on the backs of seniors who are living in nursing homes."

"This would make it more difficult for more than 40 million people to afford groceries, 90 percent of whom are in households with children, older adults, or people with disabilities." When people cannot afford food, they cannot afford energy or medicine either.

Awful news --> Delivery of therapeutic food assistance to nearly 400,000 severely malnourished kids abroad is suddenly in doubt due to Trump-Musk firings at USAID, two manufacturers of the product tell me. "Starving children are waiting," one says. New from me: newrepublic.com/article/1919...

Katrina, Eric, and Black Pearl are the best! They're also my neighborhood booksellers (right on the way to my branch library), great folks to partner with for book sales for my school visits, and always a joy to just stop in and say hello to. www.kut.org/business/202...

Jeffries: "Let me be clear -- House Democrats will not provide a single vote to this reckless Republican budget. Not one. Not one."

Where is Sam Graves?

Cancelling @joyannreid.bsky.social means the door she held open for the next generation of Black voices will slam shut. Without her, the next her, won't get platformed by white media. That, of course, is why white media pushed her out. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) won his district in 2024 by 22 points youtube.com/shorts/n1IRC...

Dear @maddow.msnbc.com If you go on the air tonight - or at minimum go on without condemning the overt racism of the people who give you $25 million a year - you are complicit Same for you @LawrenceODonnell.msnbc.com and @chrislhayes.bsky.social Protest, or you are all Joe Scarborough.

This is not a protest This is covering your ass You are a coward

As per all true Catholics, I am not a good Catholic, but I take pride in being a better one than the embarrassing reactionary converts because I live in the knowledge that the point of being Catholic is bad at it.

I did not know this!
