Comment I saw from vid: " ... spectrum, where as you get farther from the core genre, youve got Alternative, Progressive, and Experimental, with Alternative being a little weird, Progressive being decidedly different, and Experimental being way out there." da vid: youtu.be/wd5IPG2_5pw?...

Went to cite something from Ian Welsh, so read this article on China. Read if you want the 1,000 foot view of what will be happening the next two decades (or more) www.ianwelsh.net/tiresome-rem...

Buds swelling up on the elm tree, birds starting to show some more energy... Spring is about to spring forth here in Flatland.

Realized that Andrew Yang's "capitalism shouldn't start at zero" sounds so persuasive because it takes as a given that a family will start their children off at zero. Yeah, it's true in most cases. But is also something I take responsibly to avoid for my child.

Its almost hysterical that the venn of people who doomsday prep and the peoples historically likely to be persecuted/targeted for extermination when society takes a turn for the worse are almost two distinct separate circles

"And now AI means carbon-based knowledge is so out... " So let's enjoy what we read (it's either UBI or genocide). And books I wasted my time on. gardenofcandide.blogspot.com/2025/02/read...

#Linux antiX I need to go pose with this at a coffee shop, or youth's soda fountain (or malt shop). That'll show those normies...

So I was given a pack of PNY USB sticks from Office Depot. They are labeled 16 GB, but all of them have significantly more storage, in the high twenties, up to 30 GB. So, am I getting 32GB USBs with a bunch of faulty blocks? And how should I feel about that?

Is Gparted a useless skill in the age of containers? I imagine so. So I have really wasted time screwing with dCore (Debian compatible Tiny Core Linux). It is hardDcore, amiright? But only if you can get it to work...

I was listening to a bluesy playlist and liked the song "Sweet Inspiration" by The Derek Truck Bands, and from that learned from Wikipedia: "Trucks bought his first guitar at a yard sale for $5 at age nine and became a child prodigy, playing his first paid performance at age 11"

A possible future: the internet starts becomes so obviously poisonous that the amount of time people are on it plummets. And then the pleas "nooo, but we need you on the internet so we can scam you!" (hell, this is a possible present)

Right now, cruelty is the point, but that is under the assumption that cruelty is a tool that always works. Alas, these things can take decades to shake out.

Friend said he didn't know anything about computers. I replied, "I don't know anything anyone would (or should) pay me to do."

I took a nap right after that post, and slept fully last night, so I feel a lot better about Tiny Core than I did at that point. I have it dual-booting with another OS (antiX) on one of my machines, which I haven't done before, always in the past doing a clean install, as the easy way out.

Gave Tiny Core Linux a whirl again today. I couldn't get Tmux to work on it (issues with locale, going down to glibc, blah, whatever)... If I can't get Tmux going as a work-around, then the distro is too jank even for me. (Presuming you find antiX Linux mostly ran CLI as jank.. I'm no whiz).

I was at a Superbowl party and in response to a stat* someone said "they probably have chatGPT coming up with these." Middle America is now giving "AI" credit for all routine computations involving a data base. *An interception for a touchdown on a player's birthday.
