@maddow.msnbc.com My dad is 98, WWII USNavy Veteran. Showed up for democracy in San Diego today. "I fought for it once, I'll fight for it again!" 💙🇺🇸💙 THIS is what democracy looks like!!!!

I got an email yesterday afternoon that my NSF SPRF Postdoctoral Fellowship was terminated. My grant focused on testing interventions to address online misinformation and I was 8 months into a two year appointment.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

RFK Jr. is very loud and very WRONG about Autism. 1. It’s not a disease 2. There are thousands of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder who pay taxes, have jobs, can use the bathroom on their own, and are thriving in life.

The American Dream means opportunity for ALL! These illegal Trump cuts take that Dream away from kids like Logan. That's as un-American as it gets, folks. #StandUpForScience #StandUpForLogan #StopDOGE Read more below ⬇️ www.npr.org/2025/04/14/n...

Still fuming about that press conference. The way RFK Jr. talks about autism is not just scientifically wrong—it’s deeply offensive. Calling autistic kids "damaged" or implying they’ve been "lost" or "stolen" doesn’t just spread misinformation—it dehumanizes real people.

My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"? Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

Haven’t heard of the Atlas of Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx Scientists? Check it out here! (And keep an eye for two new Atlases we’re creating 👀👀👀) www.fredhutch.org/en/about/abo...

HAPPY TAX DAY! How much would you spend on a year of tornado warnings? The average US taxpayer spends only $4 a year to help fund the NWS. It’s a smart investment—every $1 invested in NWS yields approx. $73 in social benefits. 🌪️❄️ Support science. Support the NWS. Stay tuned for more this #TaxDay

They are further consolidating control over the priorities of federal science funding.

As a recipient of federal grants from #NIH (for now! 😭) that funds research in my lab, I'd like to sincerely thank American taxpayers on #TaxDay for investing in scientific research that lays the foundation for medical and technological innovation in this country and keeps us all safe and healthy

Kilmar Abrego Garcia lived in Maryland with his wife and their three children, and has never been charged with any crime. The Department of Homeland Security issued him a work permit, and he joined a union, working full time as a sheet metal apprentice.

Tax Day - round 3 - NIH 🩻🧠🧬 🧬 The average U.S. taxpayer contributes $105/year to NIH, helping fund: • Cancer & rare disease breakthroughs • Pandemic preparedness • Children’s health • Medical tech innovation • Mental health science & more NIH powers the science behind the healthcare we rely on.

Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family. I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Afghan women in the U.S. are going to be deported back into the arms of the Taliban. This is monstrous. www.npr.org/2025/04/11/g...

"Thanks to a mouse watching clips from 'The Matrix,' scientists have created the largest functional map of a brain to date – a diagram of the wiring connecting 84,000 neurons as they fire off messages." ✍️ Lauran Neergard for @apnews.com 🔗 apnews.com/article/brai... 🧠📈

Dozens of data archives are "under review" because they may contain data on gender identity, in violation of a Trump executive order. Former NIMH director Josh Gordon calls the idea that such data would be removed "incredibly disturbing." #neuroskyence 🧪 www.thetransmitter.org/policy/u-s-h...

TWO MORE DAYS to comment on this HHS policy that affects all ACA insurance plans!! It increases plan's out-of-pocket maximum by $2800! And undo's a lot of what the ACA does. Please comment (summary of plans in the QT): www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...

The courts *should* put an immediate and unequivocal halt to all use of the CECOT prison in El Salvador, with or without due process. They may not do that. But the *people* of the US still can. Don't lose of sight of this atrocity amidst the other outrages. Make this a key focus of resistance.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines. When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

How do we approach food? @rossenator.bsky.social shows stress and biological sex both play a role. #academicsky #stresssky #neurosky #sabv #eatingdisorder #investinscience

Alsoo, here is the #JeffersonCity, #Missouri, #StandUpForScience rally I co-organized, w 200+ attendees who drove HOURS to the Capitol #HandsOffOurScience. Thanks to @hankgreen.bsky.social 4 the #HandsOff Higher Ed slogan. Hear me on the bullhorn 🤘 in this media clip 😋: www.komu.com/news/midmiss...

Over 5 MILLION people showed up to make their voices heard yesterday. In over a thousand locations both here and abroad. Their messages were clear. The rampant destruction of Elon Musk and Donald Trump must end. We reject the oligarchy. Democracy is worth fighting for. America is worth saving.

It’s here! It’s here! Our Black In Neuro Annual Report for FY23-24 (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024) 🎉 We would like to thank our BIN team, Daniela Franco for preparing this report, and Ni-ka Ford for the beautiful cover art 😍 static1.squarespace.com/static/5f022... 🧵 1/8

This is Utah in case anyone’s wondering how pissed off people are. I have never seen anything like this.

Please use ALT text on your protest photos. Disabled people are left out of non-disabled activism. Accommodations are not made. Intersectionality does not apply. We aren’t invited to participate. We have to fight for ourselves. Leaving ALT off your images leaves disabled people out yet again.

If you can’t alt text, tag alt4me and a volunteer will come help you! If we work together we can make this platform accessible. Disabled people often can’t attend protests & are left out of boots on the ground action. We are restricted to digital activities & need inclusivity!

Spectacular view of 100,000 people attending the #HandsOff march in NYC

#HandsOff in St. Louis, MO, many people turned out in the pouring rain ☔️ all along the sidewalk of a busy shopping area. Great support from passersby 🚙, there was constant honking, people driving by hung signs out of their windows, and many shouted their thanks ☺️

“The attacks on DEI in the U.S. are often justified as freeing science from political ideology. But the truth is the opposite. Science can only make credible claims to objectivity if it is willing to challenge itself and one the best way to do this is through diversity, equality, and inclusion”

Yesterday's announcement canceling MARC, PREP, IMSD & IRACDA finally broke me. Spent most of the morning in my office crying. I think I'd been clinging to a glimmer of hope, but as an IRACDA alum, watching the the scale of loss for young scientists was heartbreaking. 🧪 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/03/o...

Nothing like the smell of fresh data in the morning! 😍 Proud of the students that just recorded our first combined EEG + Eye Tracking + Voice Recordings data in the lab! 🧠👀🗣️🥳
