This one is for all the writers.... - from Introduction To Cloud Care @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social #brokensleepbooks #poetsonbluesky #poetsky #cloudcare

"when they float so low you could touch them / without lifting a hand (which they know you will not)..." I'm so happy I re-discovered this old picture my friend took of me at a festival - by total coincidence it works as a "promo-shot" for Introduction To Cloud Care! 😅 #poetsonbluesky #cloudcare

Huge congratulations everyone...✨

So excited to be part of this line-up - very lucky I'll get to read with those two amazing poets!!

I'm so, so grateful and still blown away by the incredibly kind words about the book from some of my favourite poets... (I’m half-expecting them to say, “Just kidding, we were talking about a different book.” 😅) #TheseBlurbsAreTooNice #BookLaunch #PoetryCommunity #BlurbsThatMakeMeBlush

"Dr. Rage Will See You Now" - another #kidlit poem of mine up on Dirigible Balloon...

The Audre Lorde Questionnaire to oneself, from “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action,” collected in The Cancer Journals.

Tell me that you do not think of me, that you have forgotten the wild proscenium of cloud, how bodies affix and then elide, the sky’s stenography. I only ask for you to tell me you've not forgotten the pink proscenium of cloud, a testament to our duplicities, the sky’s stenography - J. Mae Barizoy

Still sharing various poems that mention clouds on here in the run-up to the publication of my book Introduction To Cloud Care..☁️ www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page... This one's by Larkin...

Sharing more cloud-themed poems by other writers on here in the run-up to the publication of my book Introduction To Cloud Care..☁️ www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page... This is another one by the wonderful Ada Limón...

"So instead, we looked up at the unruly sky, its clouds in simple animal shapes we could name though we knew they were really just clouds— disorderly, and marvelous, and ours." - Ada Limón *sharing cloud poems by other writers in the run-up to the publication of my book Introduction To Cloud Care ☁️

I'm so happy to have three brand new poems for children up on the Dirigible Balloon! #poetsonbluesky #poetsky Here is Pea Museum, one I wrote during a workshop run by the wonderful @gcthewriter.bsky.social dirigibleballoon.org/poem/Pea-Mus...

Sharing some cloud-themed poems by other writers on here in the run-up to the publication of my book Introduction To Cloud Care.. www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page... This one by Baudelaire is very mysterious, but that is why I like it...

I’m not kidding: those who delegate all their writing, thinking and creative expression to machines are going to wake up one day and discover that they can no longer write or think. You need to make your own art. You need to keep your brain working. You need to stay human.

"This seems like a good year to have a poetry collection published with the dream team @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social" - I totally agree Róisín :) My one is all about transformations, I hadn't even clocked the serendipity before...

I’d have to be really quick to describe clouds – a split second’s enough for them to start being something else. Their trademark: they don’t repeat a single shape, shade, pose, arrangement. Unburdened by memory of any kind, they float easily over the facts. (1/3)

Huge thank-you to Abigail Parry and @livecanon.bsky.social for shortlisting my poem Shadow Birds for the Live Canon Prize - I can't wait to hear it performed by one of the actors from the Live Canon Ensemble at the prize-giving & anthology launch tonight...free tickets here: shorturl.at/JHibD

"I prefer the absurdity of writing poems to the absurdity of not writing poems." - Wisława Szymborska (one of my all-time favourites!)

Ahhhh it's coming around so fast - exactly one month from today, my new book Introduction To Cloud Care will be released by @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who already pre-ordered!❤️https://www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page/laura-theis-introduction-to-cloud-care

“I thought the most beautiful thing in the world must be shadow, the million moving shapes and cul-de-sacs of shadow. There was shadow … at the back of people's eyes and smiles, and shadow, miles and miles and miles of it, on the night side of the earth.” ― Sylvia Plath

Narcissistic Nature Poem - another one from Introduction to Cloud Care, my new book that's forthcoming from the wonderful @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social #poetsonbluesky

We need poems that ask the right questions right now. This was shared by the wonderful @clareshawpoet.bsky.social yesterday. Questionnaire by Wendell Berry

"...even the silence afterwards surprised itself for the first time in the mirror of her quiet attention and bowed like a secret word that had suddenly understood its own significance" - from The Listener, a poem in my upcoming book Introduction To Cloud Care from @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social

another poem from my upcoming book 'Introduction To Cloud Care' (which you can already pre-order from my lovely publishers @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social ✨️) 🙏 thank you so much for letting me share with you on here

My gender-swapped response to Rainer Maria Rilke's poem 'The Boy' has recently been published by the wonderful Mumbai-based Usawa Literary Review. It was a "translation gone wild" - the more I worked on it, the more I felt an urge to turn it on its head & make it my own, until it became 'the girls':

At 1:24:07 you can hear the wonderful actress Alice Barclay from the LC @livecanon.bsky.social Ensemble performing my poem about Taygete.....✨

Thank you so much @tessafoley.bsky.social for reminding me of this! Loved being a part of it...

If you look closely in that pandemic nostalgia video I posted yesterday, you’ll see the awesome @lauratheis.bsky.social! She poets, and it’s like this: winningwriters.com/past-winning...
