If you feel like being inspired by a big law firm, here's the opening to Sussman Godfrey's lawsuit against Trump and his executive order targeting the firm. It still is amazing other firms caved quickly to Trump's mob-like and unconstitutional shakedown. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

It's funny and horrible that they are mistakenly sending this to citizens, but read it. It's an appalling letter to be sending in our name to people who are here legally.

BREAKING: An immigration court determined our client Mahmoud Khalil to be removable from the U.S. based solely on his political speech. The fight isn't over — we'll keep fighting for Mahmoud's freedom and all of our First Amendment rights in federal court.

I actually don’t think this is the main reason. A huge chunk of the country has been convinced to completely distrust legitimate press, and they’re operating on the vain hope that bending over backwards to cover Trump charitably might reverse that. Because if they can’t they’re not viable.

Here we go again. Massive tax cuts to the wealthy, well off and well connected. And who pays the price? Pregnant women on Medicaid, children who rely on SNAP to eat. STOP THIS. #HandsOffOurMedicaid #USDemocracy #Voices4Victory

The world really is stuck with a rotting head of lettuce

Since there are no real signs of tariff effects in the March inflation data it mainly serves to illustrate what could have been--inflation trends going into the global trade war were benign and orderly and could have facilitated a sequence of rate cuts that continued the soft landing 💔

Good headline. www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not. An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

gee i wonder why voters might've been confused about the existential stakes of the last election

Oh dear God. Where were the adults?

Not one reporter asked about the Executive Orders targeting Chris Krebs & Miles Taylor during today’s Cabinet press conference. Not one. A president using DOJ to punish those who spoke out? That’s banana republic territory. I waited. The question never came. Why? Has the fear already taken hold?

Today Republicans passed legislation that paves the way for massive tax cuts to the wealthy and crippling cuts to Medicaid. Half the benefits would go to the top 5%. It would increase our debt by trillions of dollars. They must be stopped.

The fact that they aren’t slowing down to fix things they’ve broken speaks volumes. Musk hasn’t been cowed in the least despite everything. We’re being ruled by narcissistic sociopaths.

The President’s unprecedented Executive Order yesterday targeting Messrs. Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor for nothing but the exercise of their First Amendment rights is the President’s most constitutionally corrupt Executive Order to date.

Starting to doubt this Administration’s commitment to free speech

The Supreme Court says Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported by mistake and must be returned to the U.S. But let’s be honest—why would the above-the-law convicted felon in the White House suddenly start obeying court orders? The real win is when Kilmar is home. Safe. Free. apnews.com/article/supr...

There's a lot of ink spilled on how Democrats should win back low-info voters (particularly young men) with rightward shifts when "stop being weak and pathetic" is the better tack. The reason AOC gets respect from low-info voters is that she doesn't let people walk all over her the way Schumer does.

If we weren't getting 16 levels of insanity out of Washington, this attempt to steal an election in North Carolina would be front-page news. It is today at @theprospect.bsky.social, from @gurleygg.bsky.social: prospect.org/politics/202...

This is a joke, right? I can't make myself click.

Amy Klobuchar demanding to speak at the massive Hands Off Rally in Saint Paul and then spending the next week confirming Trump appointees is amazing. Just tremendous contempt for her constituents.

I’ve seen tone-deaf, but not this level of tone-deaf. $SCHW

Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

Nobody should have been sent there, period. Not the ones with no record, not the ones with a record. Nobody.

I just learned that the entire press team at the FDA was fired last week. The *entire* press team. It's difficult to grasp how bizarre this is. To wrap my brain around the idea, I made a list of things the FDA is responsible for, and that reporters now have no one at the agency to ask about... 🧪🛟

It always boggles my mind that I, a journalist, am expressly forbidden from trading stocks, but members of Congress, with vastly greater knowledge of market-moving news, are allowed to profit by front-running markets, and so may profit by in essence stealing from the public they represent.

Every senator and member of Congress should immediately and voluntarily disclose any stock, bond, or similar trades they have made in the last ten days.
